Day 5
As the weekend approaches got a few slight urges this morning but dispelled them in an instance.
Got a busy day ahead which will no doubt have some stress. Big boss who was being an a hole is around for some meetings so potential to anger me is greater than usual. Just got to ignore and not let it bring me down.
Thanks ODAAT and Sandra... always nice to wake up to fresh shiny posts.
Positives
- mrs said I had been looking more attractive the past couple of days... w*f is that all about? I'll take it though!
- I've been doing well to cope with all the multi tasking I've got to do in the office
- picked my family over an office party - not really a tough decision
- was singing to the little man last night and made him smile a couple of times
So many of us on this forum just desperate to get out the vice of gambling... really hope we can all do it as a new year approaches.
Had a bit of a weird one today. Went out for lunch to get sandwich and put hand in pocket, felt a note and instantly my brain said bookies. I dispelled it straight away but it's crazy how instantly my brain associates a note with gambling tokens. Just goes to show how indoctrinated my brain has been from the years of abuse.
Hi Change,
Just wanted to thank you for your posts the other day. I especially appreciate the way you followeed up your earlier post.
You kindly asked how I was bearing up and to be honest not at all well. My answer to every problem seems to be a punt and that is all I can think about these days. You clearly know what I am talking about when you say the feel of money in your pocket immediately made you think "bookies!"
With you all the way my friend!
Mark
Hey Good lookin ! Ha! Ha! [oh how we wish we could delete post's more easily ! ] Sorry I will let it drop eventually ?.
Can totally relate to your last post , I could never leave home without a wad of cash in my pocket , trouble is I knew it was there and couldn't pass a bookie's if I'd wanted to, even if I'd not intended to bet that day .
It's all about habit and association , me think's ?
Take care my friend !
Ps Has the Wife stopped crying yet ?
That's the last honestly !
Have a good one ! Alan
I've figured out what it was Alan... Christmas present time coming up! She's clever.
Relatively new here, and been a bit preoccupied with myself...
Just starting to get around to taking more notice of what everyone else is coping with and getting upto.
Best wishes on your recovery.
Thanks manupnow. Good luck as well. Weekends always going to be tough but I'll keep myself busy.
Ooo, good tip...Please pass on my thanks to Mrs Change & get her to keep 'em coming!
Day 6 kept busy today and avoided really checking the footy but big positive is United got beat again.... wahhhheeeeeeyyyyy!
Tough weekend as my mrs has been on the war path and having a go at me about any little thing. Really annoying me. Trying to keep sane and avoid conflict. Managed to do some Xmas shopping yesterday. Think I'm all sorted now except for a couple of things. Need to get my secret Santa in the week. Might start reading to take my mind off things. Watching sport is too difficult and tv is a bit poor... nothing I'm really into except gogglebox which makes me laugh.
Well ! If you ignore her compliments and haven't brought that huge present she was after yet , what do you expect ?.
Stay sane my friend !!
Cheers Alan. Wrapping up first full week and have some up and downs but on right track. Forum community is great. We're all in a mess together and helping each other to dig out. Group hug.
Yeah , High 5's all round !
Affected by gambling?
