Hello

I wanted to post here as I feel it might help me finally quit. I have been gambling on and off for 8 years or so. I have never lost everything but I often make it hard to get by. I managed to build up some savings but have slowly bet these away recently. The most recent time being yesterday. I had been clean for a few months but yesterday decided I would have a go at 'topping up' my money. I ended up losing a lot. I now have made the decision that this can't happen anymore. No more small bets, no more stocks, no more lottery, nothing to do with gambling. I am posting here so I can mark each day that I am clean. I would appreciate any support or help that you can give me. I need to do it this time. Before I lose more than just my money.

The part i'm finding hardest is the fact this money should have been going towards a house with my partner. Yes I have enough to get by each day but no longer have this money for the house. I know to some this will sound like nothing as they are in worse situations but for me the guilt is so bad.

Heres to day 1!

Welcome champy.

First thing first letting go of losses is an essential part of stopping gambaling. It's those losses that keep us going back for more week on week out.
I should be driving a porche unfortunately I'm not.

You can still get all those things you mentioned but it's going to take a little longer. Hard work always pays off.

You mentioned that you did a few months bet free. How did it feel for you.? What made you go back?

Key for me was filling the void
Picking back up thing's I'd left behind when gambaling got serious.

There's a better life out there for you and gambaling doesn't play a part in it.

Remember every journey starts with a single footstep.

Here's to day one of many to come

Thank you Deano. Some very helpful words.
Yes it felt great not betting and i did not miss it at all. Its just that moment lapse where I decide to just have a quick go. Thats where I need to work. Blocking software installed and self excluded from all sites.

I can relate to them quick go's they have cost me dearly in the past. Just a quick twenty end up emptying my wallet trying to win the 20 back lol.

Good work on the self exclusions
And blocking software.
If you use the bookies aswell you can self exclude from them in one phone call if you didn't know?

Best wishes

The main worry I have today is that I think I can do this short term. But what happens if I make it 5 years (fingers crossed) and decide to have a 'small bet'?! Surely this addiction can never go for good?
