Hey my name is Rich and im 26... I have been a problem gambler for 8 years now and have never really stopped.

There are a number of ways I gamble- online bingo, bingo clubs but my biggest thing is fruit machines. Lost so much money over the years on them its literally making me feel depressed.

Not sure if anyone else feels the same but Im tired of it all, tired of loosing my money and having none, not to buy clothes or book a holiday or anything... all going down the drain. Every time I leave the bingo hall I feel like ive sold my soul and feel as empty as my wallet. My biggest dream is to be able to stop once and for all and get rid of these urges- that horrible feeling in your head which says your going to win and you end up doing it half the time when really you may loose.

What about if you do win? The greed sets in and you think oh that machine paid out the next one will to... or you think because your armed with a few pound coins your some sort of unstoppable force? Then all of that money is gone as a fruit machine will take every penny off you and just flash waiting for the next person to come along.

Amongst all the moaning, what I really want is to just stop. Stop gambling all together and keep hold of money. Be happier in myself

If anyone read, thanks

Rich

Welcome fella, this is a place full of like minded folk who all share the same desire to put an end to the misery that is the compulsion to gamble.

Fruit machines where without doubt where it started for me, I progressed to the fobt, in truth because my gambling mind couldn't justify the price of the pint of beer that would sit undrunk by the side of the machine.

I could feed a weeks wages into a machine with a £25 jackpot and all too often I did.

There is another way, a choice for life

There is no cure, medication or anyone else who can fix your addiction to gambling

But if you wholly commit to recovery believe me your life will offer you constant opportunity for improvement.

On the practical side the advice gifted to me on my first days recovery still works today

There is a triangle

Time-money-location

Take one away at all times and the next punt becomes impossible

Gifting the rational side of the brain the opportunity to control your own mind.

Whilst active we all share a mantra

I cannot win because I cannot stop.

Fella you can turn that upside down.

Through making a decision

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back
