Massive congrats mate!! First week is always tough but you did it. Now as you say keep taking a day at a time & do it again.
Really pleased for you mate doing so well.
Keep it up.
Paul
HTZ, you are walking the walk now. That first week when you kept starting and stopping, I thought 'what is he playing at', but then the penny dropped. You can have a better life, one day at a time. Best wishes.
Hi htz.
Just wanted to say a huge well done on your first seven days - these can so often be the hardest for people on this site. Congrats also, you resisting that very strong temptation and urge to gamble on the Saturday too. I bet you felt so good afterwards!
Continue doing what you are doing, although I agree with others in thinking, do you really need to take £10 per day out with you? Why not at least half that and see how you get on? Just another option maybe?
Take care.
Our Lady.
Unfortunately I have relapsed again today... Managed 7 days and was feeling on top of the world however a small bet has turned into big losses today... Really annoyed at myself and need to return back to basics.
HTZ, it gets the better of you, we have all been there. Now what you can practically do. Chalk it up, move on. Don't dwell, don't take out a stick and beat yourself up, just move on. Tomorrow is another 24 hours. The worst thing you can do now, is throw all at it in the name of failure, you haven't failed, you have stepped off the path for a second. If you can make chat tonight do, it helps to speak to people, I personally found.
Sending a supportive hug.
Julie
Thanks JL.
I really was getting towards a better place and that was only a week but now I stupidly go back and it brings me back to feeling horrible about myself again.
Need to get back to basics.
I will hopefully make the chat tonight.
Hi Hero,
Totally agree with what Julie said about everyone will have a wobble and occasionally relapse it's how you recover that counts. All I will say is if you find you can't go more than a week or so without the urge getting to strong have a think about Gamcare's free 1-1 counciling. It is there to help you beat the urges & maybe the extra support you seem to want.
Stay positive mate
Paul
What do you mean by getting back to basics? Have you got some pactical measures to prevent your access to cash and gambling in mind?
I have self excluded from almost every site you could imagine however I always manage to hunt a new one down.
I am going to install software to prevent this.
I am going to keep a written diary and keep a note of every penny I spend.
My gambling is driven by the regret and the want to be debt free.
I really need to stop before it really is too late, if it isnt already!
Maybe looking at blocking all gambling sites via your internet provider...ok...so it's only good if you gamble soley at home..but worth some thought...
Affected by gambling?
Looking for support?
