Hi,

OH away for the weekend and gave me cash for weekly shopping and petrol. Haven't had cash on me for 89 days.

Got everything we needed and passed 3 bookmakers in town without even a thought of giving the FOBT any money.

Feels good as previously I would go in with a £1 if I could.

Cheers

Awesome 🙂 I had my card back after a similar sort of time & after a little celebratory dance the urges came along & kicked me in the stomach...Thank goodness my recovery meant more to me by then!

Great work today, doesn't it feel amazing to do something that most people take for granted 🙂

Hi Balvaird,

Congratulations on abstaining for 89 days! We wish you all the best with your recovery, and also hope that you continue to progress in your new chosen direction. I’m glad you feel good about it too, and must be proud of yourself as well.

To have money in your pocket after a long period of doing without, and also to pass by the 3 bookies and not feel the urge to go into any of those bookies to gamble, is a big achievement which must be commended.

I hope others who read your post find some encouragement from it too.

Good effort, well done, and best wishes!

Beatrice

Hi,

It called breaking the time - money - location triangle.

If you take money away from a gambler they cannot gamble.

It is something I have got used to and now still find it difficult to carry cash. No idea where my bank card is. Think wifey cut it up.

Practically my wife fills my car with fuel, I take a packed lunch. If I do need money for anything I am given money and provide a receipt as proof.

If the gambler can deal with having no money with them it is a huge step in learning to overcome this horrible addiction.

Best wishes x
