I have a DMP (set this up in 2015 for several creditors) and I have also utilised help from loved ones and paid them back at what I could afford, on top of the DMP.
There's no right or wrong way to do things when it comes to finances. Different situations will require different actions plans.

This has been a good thread and lots of good posts but as I said when I started it I didn't borrow money to be bailed out etc.
I have always advocated the individual approach but I do not believe my wife/brother/sister/mother/friends etc. would have the renewed (ongoing) respect they have for me (yep, insecure but getting better within myself!) knowing I had a problem with gambling and tackled the debts I accumulated because I wanted to gamble.
I know I might a get big yawn because of my repitiveness but again I borrowed the money to gamble and I have to pay it back.
