Thank you for lovely words of encouragement, this site and everyone’s kindness had really really helped me. I would feel like I’m letting us all down as well as myself if I went back to that horrible place were so many of us have been. There it is a lonely and depressing world .... now without that devils curse I feel on top of the world and I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel xxx

Hi kaz

Congrats on 29 days gamble free, don’t know what I will spend the money on but it won’t be gambling, lol. You are doing great, gamble free days mounting up.

A excellent start Kaz, keep going.

Hi Chris, I’m 31 days in today.. However I have quit for longer in the past but relapsed, this time I’m determined not to relapse. But in terms of advice. I would ensure you have no way of gambling, give your wife all your finances, don’t carry any cash and be accountable for everything you spend. Block yourself from online sites, using gamstop and self exclude. Self exclude from all bookies. Make sure you talk to people about your problem and how you feel. Make sure you use other people like us as support, we’ve all been there and we all know how you feel. Most importantly, take every day at a time, don’t look to far ahead and try not to look back on the losses. wake up every morning and tell yourself for the day ahead, you will not gamble! It’s difficult, but doable. I feel far better about my life that I did 32 days ago. Good luck! And well done for coming here... recgonising you have a problem is a big step towards fixing it

Hey Chris, I’ve never been asked for advice ... I usually ask for it! However, this time I am determined to stop for good before I wreck my life and everything around me again. So, as 4th time has said, block yourself and hand over finances if you can, open and honest with loved ones is a personal choice, you make that decision based on your relationship about when to raise the subject. Being GF for over 30 days makes me feel great! I’ve not thought about gambling and do not want to let myself down. Read Sean1 story and posts (he’s posted on this thread above) he’s been an inspiration to me and put things into perspective. You can and WILL not gamble, do it for yourself first before anyone else! good luck Kaz xxx

Hi Kaz

About the question you asked on my diary, simply press the quote button at the bottom of the thread, scroll down to the bottom and type.

Well done in keeping gamble free and remember, gambling gives us no real pleasure or takes away our problems, in fact quite the opposite, it just makes our problems ten times bigger.

Take care.

Hi Kaz

I am glad you have money to spend on Xmas presents. Slowly we start to see the positives in keeping away from gambling, both financially and mentally.

Hi Kaz

A lovely feeling that we can spend money on material things for ourselves and loved ones rather then gambling, well done in your continued gamble free life.

Hi Lovely.
I never won big, but can relate from joining 12 yrs ago and it was abit of fun. Then one day I went on slots this was a fluke from a penny spin I won 300quid.. From one pence. That was my first day of me chasing rainbows.

I gave up for couple of years, I had a 5 yr ban and it was up, my sister kept telling me to join the sites and get the free welcome bonuses etc etc.

But that chasing losses began. The last part of your first post where it got to £300 plus in a night was in August. I got to the point giving up as in suicide seemed my only way out. It was just tears and talk but it frightened me.

Sorry your ex husband treated you that way, it's a illness not something that needs bad stigma treatment like he has given you.

Happy 50th day. Keep positive steps. Hope a happy GF 2019 for you.

Bella xx

Hey Bella sorry so long with no reply. it is an illness as you say but unless you’ve experienced it people don’t understand. I’ve had relapses here and there and it scares the life out of me that I’ll have one major relapse one day 🙁 when things are tough in life, it’s escapism. I’ve thought about the blocking devices but not taken the step. So many inspirational people on here, it keeps us going. I read some of your thread, it must be so hard when you have to hear about your sister and what she’s up to. Does she not think she’s got a problem too? I hate how gambling makes me feel. When im winning I just wish I had an exit button, something that says STOP THERE! Have a great gamblefree weekend my lovely x Kaz xx

Hey Shaun, how’s it going! Thanks as always for your words of wisdom .... I did have a slight relapse over Christmas hence staying away for a bit .. nothing major but a short sharp shock that it’s stilll a problem for me 🙁 Why do we do it?? I ask myself over and over again .... im an intelligent woman with a great high profile job and look around at my colleagues sometimes and think, if only you knew! I’m going to invest in some blocking software I think, although that doesn’t change mindset and that’s where the problem lies.

Wishing you (and me) a happy gamblefree weekend

Kaz xxx
