Hi,
Day 2.
What do people think of replacing gambling websites sites with free online game sites such as roulette ?
Also what about Free post code lottery ?
Personally I think they need to walk away altogether or they are not addressing the issues ?
Thanks.

Hi, my advice would be to stay clear. My husband signed up for these "free play" games and always plays for real. It's been 8 years now he's been a CG. He signed up 2 weeks ago and these free games have cost ВЈ145. First he wasn't going to play with money but if you deposit ВЈ10 then you get £50 free. He hasn't faced up to his gambling it's been 8 years. I think it's best to walk away completely. This is just my experience with my husband, every one is different but this free play hasn't helped us. I hope this helps
Following with interest. My husband 'stopped' gambling when I found out about the debts he had accrued back in June. But I recently discovered he is still playing the free games. Personally, I think it's just too much temptation and makes it far too easy to slip and relapse. Merry Go Round posted a link to a documentary about how it sparks the same parts of the brain that releases dopamine as 'real' gambling. I'll try and find it.
As for the postcode lottery - it's like any lottery, a form of gambling and should be avoided. In my opinion, it's like an alcoholic saying they'll give up spirits but still have the odd glass of lager.
Just my opinion but I think it's ridiculous ! . The whole point about being here is to stop gambling and begin a new life where Gambling of any sort's has no place , the fact that it's free has no bearing at all and in my opinion will just prolong the withdrawl effect that most people including myself experience . You need to find something as far removed from gambling as possible and fill your time with that instead . As the saying on here goes " If you hang around a barbers long enough you'll end up getting a haircut " Short back and sides anyone ? :((
I deleted a game from my ipad - car racing type game - every time you win a race you get to spin a wheel to win a new car/ new part.
I felt this was a 'gamble' that I am no longer willing to partake in. It's a free app but you can buy credits etc - I just know at some point my mind would justify me buying credits, next thing I'd be spinning the wheel to 'win' a free upgrade, before long I'd have spent £20, realise what a waste it was and then start scheming about how I could 'recover' (win) those funds back.
Too much analysis, maybe but I like being gamble free an intend to stay this way so I'm no longer willing to take that risk
I know many see them as harmless fun although many also see full blown gambling as entertainment. What some might not be aware is compulsive gambling can be a progressive illness. Hope you make the right choice
I think that they should stay clear of all gambling.. Its too much tempation.. I think that gambling should be illegal it recks so many lives..
We were looking at going to Vegas next year so had a free app which when you play you can earn real prizes to use when you are out there. I feel that this only increased my partners belief that if he can win big on this game maybe he can do it in real life. He started playing other free games or demo's, next thing I know hes gambled and lost hundreds of pounds through a website he even admited to me was rubbish. Ive told him that any form of gambling needs to be avoided. No more scratch cards, free plays etc and no more Vegas! 🙁 I agree with everyone else that its just temptation that can be easily avoided.
Affected by gambling?
