So I dropped him off at the residential centre. Has anyone else supported someone through this? I'm feeling scared and lost.

You have done the right thing by posting on here and you will get support and advice from great people on here. Don't be afraid to write a longer post so people can understand more about the problem you are facing.

Hey there I'm aware of the residential centres but I don't recall reading anyone on here who has done it. I can imagine it can't be easy for you but it has to be a step in the right direction I would be interested in hearing more on what they do and any progress made.

Hey, thank you both 🙂 happy to keep you updated KTF.

My husband was doing well on recovery but sadly had a rather large slip last month. So we have taken the big step of residential rehab. It's four months which currently seems like a long time! They can't contact home for the first two weeks so I currently don't know a lot! Can't wait till Friday to hear from him and learn more about what he's going through .

So desperate for it to work. I want a family so much but am not bringing a child into this anytime soon. Tx

Hi Tinky

I hope I wasnt too intrusive in chat - I am sure you are going through a whole heap of emotions yourself at present. I just had a quick look at the retreat website (Definately no HMP!). Hope it goes well and that you both get the life you want.

Take care

Hi Tinky. My husband did a 3 month residential project 3 years ago. My biggest fear was that he would walk out but thankfully he seemed to really embrace it and in all honesty it was a huge relief for me to pass on the responsibility of his recovery to someone else. My big piece of advice is to take this time for you; focus on getting yourself strong because he will be getting plenty of help.
Sadly my husband relapsed 7 months after leaving and has continued to gamble since but that is down to him. These facilities offer excellent aftercare which if you embrace it can be a huge help for you both.
I wish you both the best in your recovery xx

Hi Tinky

Thanks for listening earlier. I know how your husband is feeling and if you ever want to have a chat to try and understand the issues a little more - I am happy to swap email addresses, or I can put you in touch with the guy that 'fixed me'

Enjoy the peace and quiet
