Ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day this year, we are hosting a one-off chatroom with Maytree (www.maytree.org.uk) to give information, advice and support to anyone who has experienced suicidal thoughts or feelings because of their gambling behaviour, or who is seeking support for someone close to them because of an issue with gambling - including parents unsure about how to support their loved ones.

This will take place during our daytime chatroom on Friday 9th September, from 2pm- 3pm. We encourage participants to share their experiences and support others, with guidance from our moderator, a trained GamCare counsellor and a member of the Maytree team.

If it’s your first time in chat, you just need to log into the forum as normal, go to www.gamcare.org.uk/chat and click on the room to log in automatically. For more information on our chatrooms see http://www.gamcare.org.uk/chatroom

Found some positives attending.

Might of helped if there had been an introduction from Maytree explaining what they do etc, but overall i hope there's more of these chat room themes to come.

Tri

I agree with what you've said tri I had never heard of maytree and even now I'm not 100% but it's good to talk as we all know and I hope there are more planned for the future

I think they could of explained more about themselves rather than sounding like a 4 night stay
At a hotel. That's pretty much all they said. It was good to see forum members turn out in force

It's a shame that they didn't open it up to more people...We asked about capacity the other night & thought that that would have been sorted! I left early as the room was @ capacity & didn't want someone who really needed it to be locked out!

Good to learn that flagging the posts that need attention from Admin as abusive gets them seen faster (should have realised)!

Not sure if it was before you dropped in Deano but he did say that once people leave they are 'hooked up' with ongoing support groups & agencies.

Tel was given as: T020 7263 7070 but I didn't get to ask if this was 24/7.

Dear forum users,

I've forwarded your comments to management, in advance of the next themed chat room on Tuesday 20th September, (Which will be about debt management).

Thank you for the feedback,

Forum Admin.
