. I feel it is a ridiculous amount of money and I can’t stop thinking about it. I am debt free with a couple grand saved in the bank, living with parents. I work a low paid job and have lost another £2000 meaning total losses over the last 5 years are 28 grand. I can’t stop thinking about these losses and I have just got my debit card blocked as online financial spread betting is where I lose my money.

Look, the money is money.

Imagine instead of driving ford mustang, you will be driving nissan.. Some of us have lost more, some less... 28k for some ppl is nothing and for some fortune.. Once you are left with no money and hit rock bottom you understand you have got a problem.. if you didnt hit rock bottom , and had lets say 200k, you would probably gambled that as well. So consider yourself lucky.. very young fella, not married, has his whole life in front of him.. I have probably lost the same amount as you, just not in 5 years but in 2 motnhs or something.. We need to look at it as an expensive lesson... when youve got nothing 28k is a lot, but if you stop gambling and make 100k working some years you know, so on the top of that 100k 28 wouldnt mean so much, it will not make you happier person. Stop thinking about the money and start thinking about turning your life around. Hope you stay in recovery wish you all the best

It's thinking about that 28k loss that will push you into tryuing to win it back again and that's when you're in trouble. Think of it as a £5k a year tax on being stupid and that from now on, you're not paying that tax, because you're now not stupid.

Haha stupidity tax. I like that one. Think I’ve been trapped in the top tier bracket for stupidity tax over my gambling career.

I also think that the stupidity tax is a great way of looking at this. I haven't tried forums like this before and have already after using this for 10 mins found something different to look at it all with, hopefully the first of many little helpings. Thanks guys 🙂
