I had 40 quid with me plus my credit card. After paying the bill I went across to the show boat and played with the 40 quid lost that then went 3 times to the cash cashpoint and withdrew 100 quid each time. Then went home to fetch more money money had 260 took akl this won s bit then lost the whole lot. Can any one please help me I just don't understand why I keep doing this. I read the forum every night reading thr problems which people go through. I have an excellent job an investments which make money. I am not short bit the point is I waste so much moneyplease can you help me.

Hi KMS- I too have the slots problem. Once I pop I cant stop used to be my motto! And it really was hard to walk away even when I had won a lot. It was like I had to keep going until I lost my last penny. I would say it was like a fog that descended on me when I was playing. I used to say to myself that I couldnt help it.I could help it- we all can stop if we really want to and the urges we can just laugh in the face of in the future. When you are in town in the future try walking past the arcade and telling yourself you are in control and you are not going in. If you dont go in you can bet and get hooked on a machine. I havent gambled for 4 days and each time I now see a bookies or an ad for bingo etc.. I stick my finger up. I know it sounds rude but it makes me feel so much better. Try it! Get out now while it hasnt completely ruined your life because it will. It always does in the end unless you turn it around now. Dont give the B******s another penny of your money! good luck!

Thanks hard times for your advice a friend of mine told me about 5 years ago to not cross the door of a gambling place as the devil is on sitting on the door trying to entice you in thanks for your advice. From now on I will take your advice.

hey- i have to say I can imagine that devil there trying to get me in too. We cant give in to it. We wont. We are not on this planet very long and we should be allowed to enjoy it. Lets not let the devil get the better of us 1 more time.

Thanks that's true I don't know why I went in the show boat today I I hadn't been in there for several years. I I hate the place but but carried on plauing for some unknown reason. Now I am at home this evening reflecting on the day and and feeling very sad that I have actually lost nearly 600 quid what a waste of money. I could have done so much with it. A previous Blogger has said take one thing out of the following time money location. These 3 words I remember and keep coming to my mind. Today for me was time I was bored and in the back of my mind since Friday night I was getting urges to gamble I fancied going to the casino but went to bed instead but woke up this morning okay but went to the bank with my debt card and this was disastrous for me. The changes I have made today is ti lwave the card with my wife.

Yes those little changes will prevent you from gambling and once you go a few weeks having not lost any money you might then feel ok about being back in control. it really is hard because we think well just one more go and we will get that money back. But we wont. Be a winner by not gambling. each day I dont gamble I feel like a winner.

Thanks I woke up this morning feeling guilty and sad having lost money yesterday. But I am being positive and saying it was a relapse and if I change from today I will recover as I have one more pay day before Christmas.

well forget about yesterday and concentrate on today and tomorrow. Every day you do not gamble you are a winner so just stay positive. I find it hard too but Im going to do it. For everyones sake but mainly my future. We shouldnt give our future to the gambling organisations- they have already taken enough. they will not take any more! check back tomorrow! x

Hi having lost 500 quid in on slot machines. I didn't gamble until today. My friend called for me this evening and said let's go to the casino I agreed but I said I am not gambling. Got there left my wallet in the car. I have excluded myself but you can walk in before 10pm and they ask no questions. So my mate started playing I was watching he was losing and I got tempted after 30 minutes and walked back outside and collect my wallet and withdrew 100 lost then another 100 lost them another 90 and lost each time I withdraw they charge 1.85 P 300 the max plus I had another 15 quid in my pocket and lost the lot on roulette. I felt sick my mate lost over 200 qiid we were both so upset. I am do sensible during spending money always looking for the best price and just keep on losing every time I go. Don't get me wrong I will survive but if I had 10 grand today I would still play. I am at home now upset and come straight to this forum. I want to stop completely and this is my first day.i don't play every day or week it about every 6 weeks or so. Please can you advise what I should do.

hi kms

Obviously like me once you start gambling you find it almost impossible to stop unless you run out of money. I would say the best thing for you is to not put yourself in any situation that might tempt you. Explain to your friends that you are a compulsive gambler and that you cannot go to the casino or any type of gambling establishment. I know this may cause you some embarrassment but if things are bad enough for you to really want to stop completely you dont really have a choice. Everytime you feel the urge do something else and they will pass. I would have had a lot of chances to gamble this week as my whole family enjoy gambling and they would have normally had been asking me to join in but because I told them all that I could not gamble any more because I have a problem with it- they didnt ask me or try and convince me to join in. This really helped me because I then didnt have to get the strength to say no. Im hoping I would have been able to but I dont know for sure and I dont want to find out yet. I am still at an early stage of recovery- 16 days so I do not want anything to compromise that.

Just stay clear and forget what has gone before. Start fresh- you can do this and will feel so much better for it!
