Hi

cant believe I’m back here again.
haven’t gambled for about 5 years and now back to square one, I’m so ashamed of myself.

probably been back online for about 6 months or so, back in debt ( not credit cards like last time) spent all my money and more.

i really need to tell my partner but so scared to, he will be so disappointed in me.

last time I was escaping for life and blocking myself from the real world as such to escape from my ex. Now I’m in a good relationship with an amazing man and I couldn’t ask for more, he knew about my past and accepted me for me.
We started having a few issues in our relationship and I shut myself down and again turn to gambling.
Why do I do this, now I’m back to square one, very moody and angry and scared he will find out.  I don’t even know what to do any more but I know I need to stop asap

Sorry to hear your back here Helen, it is always hard even after many years to not turn back to something that you previously used to help get you through, The only way to move forward is make a plan and talk to your partner, He's better off hearing it from you than finding out any other way in case he gets suspicious.

Look at this as a blip and accept the loses, look forward and move forward focusing on paying things off so you aren't tempted to chase anymore money.]

All the best

Hi Helen

Sorry to hear this, I've been gambling for years and tried so hard on many occasions to just stop and do it alone

I finally admitted to myself I can't do it alone and needed help, I'm now receiving 121 counselling and regularly go on chat to speak to other compulsive gamblers, I'm finding this is really helping, also got every block in place

I'm only on day 9 but never gone this long without gambling

Good luck we're all here to support you and each other

X

well done for being on day 9, what an achievement, you must feel proud of urself and taking the right steps for the road of recovery.

im finding talking to people, who understand is helping. I haven’t pluck up the courage yet to speak to others on the chat, even though I did look yesterday at what people were writing.
I don’t think I’ve fully accepted what I’ve done yet and how much I’ve wasted , but over the next few days I’m sure that will kick in more and that’s when I’ll brace myself to open up more and try the chat.
