Hi there. I am a new member and this is my first post. My problem is i cant stop chasing my losses. I only gamble in casinos on Roulette and never online. I have been gambling for the last 10 years every now and then. But recently what happened is this: During July 2017 i had £47,000 in my savings account as i sold a buy to let property. I was going casino every night. My savings account went upto £67K. I felt great and thought i will keep winning. But luck ran out. Out of £67k i spent around £20k on home improvements and rest is gone. Last £10k went back up to 20k as i won. I got encouraged that it can go back upto 67k. But now its zero. Now its very difficult to accept it. I keep thinking if 47 can go to 67 then why cant i win again ?? Please suggest something to help me.

Just got your post on my thread thanks for that !

Painfully I have learnt that we have no collect button built into our mindset . No win is great enough and no loss is low enough until we clear ourselves out . What has been suggested and very true is to write off what’s gone , it’s done and dusted . Part of the gambling mindset is to want to win it all back at all costs then you are back to square minus 1! That’s what I can offer you at this stage !

Hi Jamie I thought you might have more replies, so here's mine . I'm wife of cg. The money is gone. That big building called the casino is paid for by compulsive gamblers. You cannot stop. If you continue you'll probably not only lose the equity but the price of the house too. You gamble big, my husband used to. Start off small, win, lose, bet big, lose big. You feel rubbish you gamble some more to feel better, and so the cycle begins. We can't tell you to stop, no one knows how to win, only lose. Stop before the debt starts. There are many ways to get help, gamcare, GA, self exclusion. The problem is you want someone to tell you how to win it back. That person doesn't exist. Everyone here wants to stop, gambling has ruined them. You will only win if you don't have another bet.

Hi Jamie

I was in your situation for 7-8 year's gambling online slots. Continuously chasing losses, no matter what size the win it was never enough. Mine is a very long story so I won't bore with the details, basically 7-8 years of getting into a lot of debt, all earnings and money stolen from my business chasing losses. Disgusting and ashamed with myself but you cannot dwell on it.

For me there had to be a trigger to change my mindset and that happened when I lost £15,000 of a customer's money they had paid the business for work in advance.

Bascially I had to admit defeat and accept gambling had beat me. My mindset completely changed once that happened. That was 133 days ago and I haven't had any urges to gamble since. All done by willpower alone which I am not condoning in any way. I would advise handing financial control over to someone. Self exclude from casinos you use. Speak to gamcare for advice.

Time, location, money. If you break from one of these the ability to gamble will be stopped.

The main thing is you have to want to stop and be fully committed. If you are not ready to stop then you will continue to chase.

There is a guru challenge thread on the overcoming gambling problems forum by Mixer. Worth a read and joining if you are committed.

Amt722. Thanks for your reply. It helps to know that i am not alone. It must have been very difficult to loose all that money from business. I will handover financial control to my wife and then there is no access to large amounts of cash to gamble. Only regret is why i didnt stop earlier ? Guess its better late then never

It's never too late, days gamble free soon turn into weeks then months GF.

Handing over financial control a must in my opinion, I could'nt due to running and needing to use the business finances on a daily basis.

Hi all this is my 1st post as I only joined tonight and I have a gambling problem to which I’m ashamed off. I have closed all my accounts and let them know about my problem. Tonight was my eye opener as I lost £80. not much I know but it’s enough for me to say can not do it any more.
