Congratulations on getting so far. I hear the first few days/ weeks are the worst. We are doing a good thing. Only happiness will come out of this.

Lets try short steps. Aim for Monday gamble free and keep checking in.

I like these lyrics "nothing's too broken to find a way back".

All the best.

Good to here, I have not gambled either. Nor have I watched or even looked at any racing. I feel something different inside of me telling me that I just don't need that s**t in my life anymore. Usually on a Friday I am betting on the night meetings and getting my bankroll up for the big meetings tomo. But not no more my cash is staying well and truly in my pocket. Taking everyday as it comes.

Have been so tempted today. My friends are at the races and I'm watching it on tele. I haven't put any bets on. I just keep thinking of what happens when I lose and it keeps putting me off. I need to stay strong for myself and my family

Hope it's all still gamble free for all and people made it through the weekend. I think abstaining is the best approach and trying to distance yourself from that world. Watching it on TV is only going to heighten triggers. I have a roulette problem so I wouldn't go to a casino to watch other people play. Avoidance is the key. So so hard but I honestly believe we can get through this illness. Good luck all.

Hi guy's , just wanted to say welcome to you all as there's quite a few different people posting on here , are you all aware you can start your own diarys on the recovery diarys page ? , It will give you the opportunity to talk with others in the same position as yourselves and also chart your own recovery !. You all have similar issues and really need to put a few things in place to help you fight this addiction . Keeping the time , money location triangle broken is a big part of staying gamble free , so self exclude from all bookies or gaming sites , you can also download blocking software such as k9 which stops you accessing gaming sites , limiting your cash or card capabilities is also another good ploy , it wont stop you gambling completely but gives you that bit of time to think rationally and the rest is down to how much you want to stop plus willpower ! .

We are all addicts here and we cannot win because we cannot stop , its not the money we crave , just the buzz and thats the problem . You all have to let go of the loss , accept its not coming back and move on , it's a cycle that you have to break and the only way to break it , is to stop completely !

Take care guys and look forward to seeing your posts on the diary's page !

My name is Alan and I'm a compulsive gambler !

Back again, this was the only thing that stopped me last time as soon as I stopped coming on here I started again I have properly lost best part of 30k in 256 days since I last came on here. Just goes to show I'm not as strong as I thought I was. It's even starting to affect my health. I think I'm better than it but I would be such a better person without it thanks

Welcome back...
Jump back on and try again..
But.....you'll have to change something...
Blocks..
Access to cash/cards
Tell the wife...
Ring gamcare..
All things you can do if you want to....you know what you got to do...
And yes....I can tell you it's way better on this side. ...
And I'll do all I got to....to keep it that way...
Stay on here....all the time if you've got to....
Gambling will only ever take from you ....money comes and goes....
Health and relationships. ...not quite so straight forward...or so easily fixed....
Wishing you well x
: )
