I am feeling determined along with the overpowering shame but today is day 1 of me getting my life back and being able to live a life before gambling made me into someone I don’t recognise or like very much.

Have you put all the blocks in place? Gamstop; Gamban; gambling transaction bans or Moses if you physically gamble? Or hand financial control to a loved or trusted one?
Leaving any door open can lead to temptation as all of us on this site have found out to our peril.
Try setting a 20 minute timer on your phone if you get an urge and then keep resetting it until the urge passes.
