Hi,I'm a single mum of 4 children and I'm struggling so much with online slots , I'm on a low income but think nothing of gambling £100s in a week I am so desperate to stop but I feel like I physically can't,I self exclude from a site and then open another,I know I need to stop before I end up in debt,I've tried the blocking software but have no one to put in the password.

Put in a random one something you wont remember, write it down so you can confirm & then burn it. If you dont destroy the paper there is no point.

Hi Trouble P,

I found that day@atime's suggestion about the P/word worked for me a while back.

Best Wishes.

I'm new here and I. Can safely say I feel so alone and all I do is hurt everyone around me I owe 25k and it keeps increasing I have 3 amazing children . Two are my step children but I love them as much as my lil baby girl but all I do is mess up time and time again. I had to admit everything last October . Then stopped 4 months straight now I've slipped up and I lied again when I should have been truthful I think my marriage is over now. My wife is amazing but I lie lie lie and it's as bad in her eyes as going to another woman's bed. My phone all week has bin slot texts Cheltenham texts. I only gambled today so I could give her a good Mother's Day but that's now out the window. I can't imagine going to meetings as I don't think I will like what I'm told and I don't control Anger well at all. I used to be a happy person now I constantly feel guilt and even when I win I don't stop until I lose it all.

Hi Trouble P,

Welcome to the forum, and well done for your post.

Well, I’m glad you’ve come to Gamcare; we’re here to help and support you with advice on how to overcome your problematic gambling. It is important that you observe the advice on stopping that we offer you. Also, keep reading the posts from the forum for some more strategies on how to overcome your gambling problem.

It’s clear from your post that you’re struggling to stop your problematic gambling, and I can understand your frustration and anxieties about it, and I do empathise with you.

Gambling problem can be very complex to manage. Some people try and manage it by themselves but, most people need professional help to overcome it. By joining the forum, you have taken a brave and first step in seeking the necessary help that you need to overcome your problematic gambling.

I’m in agreement with Dan’s suggestion that you burn your random password after you’ve confirmed it. This is so you wouldn’t have a chance even if you try to log in into a gambling site, and I hope you’ll be installing one of the blockers that stop you from accessing gambling sites, (Gamblock, Net Nanny and Betfilter).

However, it’s important that you replace your spare time/ gambling time with some other forms of activity/ hobby to distract you from gambling, and also to avoid being bored. When you’re in recovery, you want to do everything possible to prevent a relapse, and boredom doesn’t help in that sense.

Maybe, you’ll like to contact us on our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers. An adviser can refer you for 12 sessions of free counselling if you think that would help you to overcome your gambling problem.

Pls. note that our lines are open 7 days a week, from 8.00am to midnight.

Thank you for your post, and please keep posting.

Kind regards,

Beatrice
