the I have been gambling for about 14 years now but today I have finally admitted that I have a gambling problem. I had to take a good look at myself and stop being in denial and face the facts that my gambling problem was getting more serious were I was gambling money I couldn't afford. My 1st steps is deleting all mobile apps and staying out the bookies I have also gave my girlfriend all my bank cards and put myself on a limit to try and cure this problem I know it want cure the problem overnight but at least I have taken the 1st few steps to the long road ahead feeling a lot better about myself now.
Hi and welcome. You have taken the first step on the journey to recovery. You can download the apps again so you need to put up blocks, download the free app k9. It's early days for me, almost done 7 days gamble free, wish I had came on this site earlier, so much support. Read some of the success diaries to give you hope and determination. YOu have to break the habits, when you get the urge to gamble do something different for at least 20 mins. I wish you well.
Hi Ted and welcome to the forum :)) The Bookies was alway's my problem , not so much the horses or dogs but those bloody Fob't roulette machines :(( As Anon has already told you about the online blocks you can put in place , if youv'e also got an issue with the high street bookies then you need to self exclude , you can do this by going in with a couple of passport photos it only takes a few minutes of your time and you can choose the bookies that are closest to you or you can also call the national exclusion helpline 0800 294 2060 and they'll pretty much do it for you :))
It can always be got around but it can give you a bit of thinking time before running off and placing another bet if the urges strike , there's loads of info on here so if you need any help with anything just ask .
Best wishes buddy and talk to you soon .
Alan
Cheers Anon and Alan thanks for your comments will try what you both said many thanks TEd
