I have always put a few pound into fruit machines and lost it/won a few quid then walked away. But about 2 months ago I kept going to see if I could win the jackpot and I did. Ever since I have only played fruit machines with the intention of winning the jackpot and not stopping until I do. Inevitably I lose money doing this.
I went on a winning streak on a 500 Irish game (not naming games) on diff machines and won close to 700 but then went on another machine(same game) at a service station and put 1000 into it and lost the lot (it didn't win once).
Since then I've lost another 500 and can't seem to stop myself from going to service stations and throwing 20 notes into daft machines and losing it.
When I lose large amounts like today (lost 130 on a pub fruit machine) I feel physically sick.
In the last 2 months I think I've lost about 2k at the lowest estimate. My savings are getting lower and lower and I feel like an idiot.
Has anyone else had this happen to them (the not stopping till you get the jackpot or a large sum)?
The thing is I don't enjoy playing these games - I feel bored and frustrated and seem to be on a win back my losses mentality.
I don't think it matters what form of gambling you indulge in, a lot of people are just endlessly chasing their losses. It sounds like you want the thrill of getting the jackpots but it where will it end?
Stop now while you still have some savings left.
That's exactly how I was gambling about 15 years ago before my illness progressed rapidly so please please please stop and seek help now , trust me u don't want to go down my path which is not a pretty one ! I played 250 jp and 500 mainly in golf clubs actually going round different clubs to play them ! Like you playing them for jackpot always turning down other wins in pursuit of that jackpot or cashpot ! It's a progressive illness , it only gets worse , your not alone but please stop , there's plenty of help out there if you want it , good luck
Thanks for the replies haven't gambled today so far. Reading some of the horror stories on the forum like 90k in debt etc.. makes me think I have sought to stop earlier than most people.
I have come to the decision that putting my time and effort into my businesses rather than gambling with the aim of making that money back which I have lost is my best option.
Affected by gambling?
