Been gambling addict since age of 16

It all started overcome to be a problem when I was age of 18.Started not paying rent money, buying no food, literally starving myself 3 or 4 days without any food, tears on my face, family members saved me many times.

When I was single at times gambling always caused me significant issues.

Bear in mind when I had a partner I still gambled but I always maked sure all bills are paid food on the table etc.

Been excluded with moses and Gamston but that never stopped me from gambling.I even travelled on the train 5 hours each way just to place a bet spend couple of thousand pounds and come back home like a zombie.

Longest I ever not gambled was actually this year from February until July 2024.

Then something snapped in me I had no money to repay back to people as I was not gambling and started again.Borrowing lots of money, every pay day got left like 200 pounds for a month that goes within a day or 2 and back to square one borrow from people I know I can borrow and then next payday pay back and again and again

Sick and tired of living like that. Its not a living.Working overtime for what ?

I am going to start talking to God I think there's an hole answer for everything

Be strong Johhnyuk, you are stronger than you think. And you should be very proud of yourself that you want to change and not have this habit anymore! You can fight, and let this fight be the battle that changes your destiny. Fight like you’ve never fought before!! C’mon you’ve got this! 🙏🏼🤺

If you can hand over your finances to a loved one for a while you might not be as tempted as much this helped me out on my start to my road to recovery. I know it’s bloody hard,  i can relate to the not eating part a few times in my gambling life. I think i may of even stolen food at one point from co workers long ago.

You can come out the other side stronger and more prepared if your willing to put the effort in to stop and put barriers in place, digitally, physically and physiologically.

make it a habit to come back on here and engage with new and old stories on here, remember you are not alone!

physical GA meetings,  if you have one locally are fantastic support to really stop gambling.

you are sick and tired of  this BS so make a change for the better Johnny

just for today i will not gamble and  accept no matter how much i ever won, i always lost it plus more.

Thanks Dave and everyone else who has replied to my post.

Handing finances is not my thing.Ive done it couple of times and each time I was threatening my family member after 1 or 2 days at the top that if they don't give me my money back I will call police on them and report theft.

That's how bad gambling becomes in times.

Really ashamed of myself for doing it.

So family members or friends won't even think about having my finances now.

I just have to follow through same techniques like I did early this year and not come back to gambling.I had brilliant time having all my wages after I paid bills for several months and each month I was spoiling myself with new electronics clothes furniture you name it.

In last 2 months I sold it all to fund my gambling addiction again.

What a shame
