Hi Kieran, welcome to the forum. It’s brave of you to admit and open up about your gambling problem, and also seek some advice from here. It is not unusual that you’ve been gambling for 3 years and it only started to become a problem recently. Gambling addiction gets worse if you don’t do anything about it; it can get out of control very easily, and it is also difficult to try and overcome it on your own. It is a good thing that you’ve recognised the downward spiral of your gambling and are seeking some form of help and support to arrest the situation now before it turns into a vicious cycle (which I hope it isn’t as yet).

I hope that by posting here, you are able to get the necessary help and support that you need to be able to work through your addiction. Recovery happens gradually and it’s important that you stay patient with yourself, but at the same time determined to overcome your addiction problem. I will like to make you aware that stopping is manageable and doable if you observe the strategies and boundaries that you learn from here. We can even offer you 12 sessions of free counselling nearest to where you live if you think that would help you to overcome your gambling addiction.

Try and let go of your losses as you’ll never get them back. Rather, focus on your recovery process and look to a future where you’ll be gamble free.

Perhaps it maybe advisable to call our free phone helpline: 0808 8020 133 if you feel you need further help and support. We are open everyday from 8.00am to 12.00midnight.

Keep reading from our forum, and also keep posting as often as you can to help you keep the momentum of your recovery process.

I wish you all the best in your effort to overcome your gambling problem.

Take care,

Beatrice
