I always say I’m going to stop and then when I get paid I fall in the trap. It’s like a constant cycle.

i am self excluded but still find ways to bet e.g. in shop or make a account in my gf name

please help and tips or tricks appreciated

Hi AAAleachy,

We look at the gambling triangle which is time / money and place . These strategies cover money and place . Time wise it's a good idea to try and make a routine and take on the day in chunks . Maybe there's things that you have neglected due to gambling that you can get back into like exercise which really helps.

You can block gambling through most banks and set up daily limits , You may want to consider giving someone control of your finances if you feel this will help.

The key to long term recovery may involve one to one or group support and daily personal development.

Please feel free to contact the GamCare Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or via the website to explore the additional support available to you. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you would like to talk to one of the GamCare HelpLine advisers.

Good post it is great to share your story. I am self excluded as well and still find ways around and payday is a real trigger for me but think eventually it always ends up in the same position. Keep at it as I am going to try too.

Best tip i can offer is to go out and make more money to cover the losses

wether that be working overtime , 2nd job or selling bits and pieces

Tends to keep you busy whilst also repairing the financial damage

Devil makes work for idle hands
