My Gambling Journey – Looking for Advice

I wanted to share my story and see if anyone here has advice or has been through something similar.

For four years, I was dedicated to gambling with intelligence and discipline.

But then, in one hour of madness, I lost everything. Desperate to recover, I took out a £1,500 loan and lost that too. That moment of chaos destroyed what I’d built over years.

I’ve since registered with Gamstop to stop myself from gambling, but I’m really struggling to adapt to being broke and dealing with this massive change. My doctor has upped my medication, and I’ve started seeing a therapist once a week, but it still feels overwhelming.

I can’t help but wonder if the bookmakers could have done more to safeguard me. With all the focus on responsible gambling, should they have flagged my activity and stepped in?

If anyone has been through something similar or has advice on rebuilding financially and emotionally after a loss like this, I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks for reading.

hello mate please don't despair 14 grand is nothing compared to what you Lose in your health both mental and Physical. If you carry on gambling it will get worse. You will lose more than 14000 gambling makes us sick it changes how your brain works. Its no different to alcholism or Drugs.I wish in my Life time i lost only 14 grand , what ive lost is not anymore important than your as its all relevent. A man who loses Ten Pounds is just as hurt as someone who loses a million if that's the only tenner you have it still is all relevent. You have no choice but to arrest this gambling go cold Turkey you have to , if you feel no pain its not normal its the Pain of Losing that will make you give it up. You have to have suffered enough so as to bring and want a change, you won't give up until your ready. all the best mate STOP NOW !
