I
Hi everyone,
My name is Alex I’m 25 years old and I’ve been gambling since I was 19.
Before I tell my story I just wanted to thank you guys for helping others and trying constantly to change people’s lifes as no one understands this gambling addiction more than us.
My problem is that I’m addicted to online slots, I gambled my wages since the beginning of 2017 a day or two after I got paid. Tonight I’ve done it again and it just went too far. I tried to get help went to a psychologist and I still feel the same. I stop when I don’t have money and play again even with £10. I’m in debt £5k and lost at least £10k within these years .
i have no idea what to do anymore I can’t pay my debs I have no money left for food or rent, the debtors are trying to get hold of me so I am under some massive pressure. Help please
Hi,
I have finally realised that i ahve a gambling problem and am new to the site. I too, am addicted to onling bingo and slots and the amount i have spent is horrendous and got me into debt which i need to address as this causes more stress when youve got people chasing you. I started through boredom, was unhappy in my marriage and it went on from there. I separated from my husband and moved away but it was a different kind of lonleyness which then i covered up with keeping myself gambing and chasing money. I had a rather large win which only made me want more.
Very sad
Hi Alecs,
Welcome to the forum , and well done for braving to share your story with us.
I’m glad you’ve come to realisation that you need professional help to overcome your gambling problem, since it’s not easy trying to do that by yourself.
You’ve been gambling for 6 good years, and the addiction seems to be taking toll on your wages.
There are loads of help options that you can get from Gamcare to help you to overcome your problematic gambling. You said you still feel indifferent after seeing a psychologist, but I think it would be helpful to you to explore other areas of treatment to see how that can enable you to overcome your gambling problem.
I suggest that you contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers regarding your gambling problem, and also to get direction for rent and debt. Our lines are open from 8.00am to midnight, 7 days a week.
I also suggest that you contact your local Food Bank for some food supplies since you said you said you haven’t got money for food.
Do try and stay in touch so we can continue to support you, and also know how you’re getting on with your recovery.
Best wishes, and please keep posting!
Beatrice
