Hi all

Ive been a gambling addict (slots) for around 10 years. Big, big losses and am circa 50k in debt.

I’ve self excluded/gamstop but there always seems to be somewhere I can find a slot machine.

I can see my life being so much better, very quickly, if I can stop.

I have my first hypnotherapy session next week. I wondered if anyone else has tried this and would share their experience of it?

I found ‘how to stop gambling’ by Alan Carr very helpful but not longer term.

I really want to crack this once and for all

I haven't, but it certainly seems like a good idea, good luck with it 👍 might be worth letting people know how you get on with your experience as could possibly benefit people in the future 👍

Thanks both, I have my first session next Thursday and I’ll update after it.

It’s £145 for a 2 hour session - but literally I’ll burn £500 in an hour sometimes on slots so this is a good investment.

He feels confident he can ‘cure’ me but I’ll keep an open mind and see how it goes. It’s a cross between hypnotherapy and CBT so fingers crossed!

Hi

I thought I’d give an update - I had my hypnotherapy session on Thursday.

It was great! Although I have no access to anything other than Apple pay (and have gambling blocks on) I don’t feel the constant planning that I did before, where I’d be planning where or when I can go to the casino/bookies to play on the slots to ‘make some money’

I saw an advert on the TV today and it occurred to me that I haven’t actually thought about gambling once since Thursday. It all seems rather absurd when I think about my flawed thinking of trying to repay debt by gambling more money on a machine.

I am many, many thousands of pounds in debt, that I am able to make payments on each month and could sort it out relatively quickly.

I now see an end to this, keep focussed on paying down the debt and go back to a decent life.

I’ll update a week/month later but at the moment, I think it was well worth the outlay to do
