hello,Â
I am David, 25. I am in a state right now that I want to do something bad to myself. I am gambling addict. It's been 5 years I have been gambling. I know I can't control myself, I don't know what to do. I told my father, but I think he doesn't understand how hard is to overcome this problem. I was one of the best students in school, in university, but after gambling came in, I lost everything. I droped out of uni, I started lending money from my friends, I started telling a lot of lies to cover up my addiction. I live with my parents right now, and working, but all my salary goes to gambling. and seeing my parents dissapointed hurts me. And still I always think about gambling, I am chasing that lost money. Yesterday I lost all my money, and my father's money too. I tried to control myself but I don't know if they is a way out, please tell me how to stop, I hate seeing myself like this.Â

Good Morning David
It is so good that you are here as it means that you want to get help , I came here last week and I have already seen a big difference in my general mood, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that other people do not understand how hard it is . I have been in your position so many times , borrowing , stealing lying to loved ones, it is all part of the addiction but help is out there , we are all in the same boat here albeit at different levels, I am 60 years old so it is a real challenge to change my habits of a lifetime. Try your hardest to stop look at other things that you could be doing to with your time and money. Hope this helps !
Take care
Jon
