Hi,
This is my first post before I go reading through other posts and pins.
I am drawn to crypto trading, particularly when it gets a lot of publicity in the news. Â
As you can imagine I always lose money.
I have signed up to 5 year ban on Gamstop, although not interested in anything outside of crypto.
i have switched on the gambling ban on my bank account and have agreed to show this is still on my account each month to a trusted person.
I am saving up for a house and in the past have dipped into my savings but have not done that recently. Instead I have a trusted person look after the passwords for me.
i did end up with an overdraft recently though and didn’t save into my account because I fell back into the trap of crypto again.  Super embarrassed to have to explain this and pay off my overdraft with some savings.  I feel annoyed at myself but at the same time I have forgiven myself and want to just move on.
i don’t want to fall back into this again, so really need to understand what it is that triggers me into being drawn into crypto.  Is there any medication either which helps counter that feeling?
my biological father, was into gambling, so I also wonder if there is something genetic in that.Â
I have a really stressful professional job, and just want to get on with work and not have any of this hanging over me.

Greed and Ego usuallyÂ
Crypto is an industry people get involved in because they think its a secret get rich quick scheme nobody knows about , reality is you probably have less control in it than you would traditional gamblingÂ
its a Ponzi scheme used by the rich to launder money and pump and dump idiotsÂ
Â
first step to recovery is admitting theres a problemÂ
Second step is admitting you are the problemÂ

@287hzyl0pq Quite a bitter response there. Â Greed and Ego? Yes surely all gambling can be linked to some form of greed and shortcuts to having more money. Â But ego? That comment says more about you than me.

Every week people rock up to this forum wanting an answer to all their problemsÂ
Wether you want to hear it or not the root cause of gambling is 9/10 an obsession with or a lack of money ,if you have money and a decent life why are you gambling ?
Because you want more.....
this defines greed & using gambling as a means to fast track it is usually the egoÂ
theres a very very popular narrative witin the crypto community ofÂ
"We can beat the system" or " we have beaten the system "Â
its an extremely egotistical community that won't listen to anything other than bull cases but thats another topic

It’s simply an introduction from someone who will use the site to see what help is out there and what has worked for others.  Your aggressive tone and 2.35am replies might indicate you have some other problems of your own to take care of but thanks for stopping by.
Hello
Thank you both for engaging in this discussion and being part of the forum space. I can hear you are both wanting to understand and be supportive of others’ situations and your posts demonstrate how different we all are in our experiences and thoughts.
Our forums are a safe space to share experiences and in our guidelines ( https://community.gamcare.org.uk/guidelines/  ), we ask that everyone is sensitive to how forum posts may be viewed and perceived by others. Please be mindful of this as this thread and the discussion around research and people’s different reasons or drivers towards gambling continues.
All the best,Â
