Hi all

My name is alex and I'm 30 years old. I have a fiance and a little man who is 5 on Sunday.

I'm here to admit that I'm a gambling addict and try to sort this problem out once and for all.

I have been betting for years but the last 6 months have been really bad. I have lost my 3k wages in a couple of hours sometimes by gambling on the tennis via my phone.

Luckily for me my parents have bailed me out.

I've gambled again this month and have lost 75 percent of my wages AGAIN.

I don't no wat to do anymore. I've tried hypnotherapy and to my sadness it hasn't worked

All my online account have been deleted for a while but the problem is that with w**********l even after making your deposit limit say 5 pound a month u can just make a new account and bet again....

w**********l informed me that I have 4q duplicate accounts with them.

Any advice in stopping would be great. I've though of attending ga but it's not really my kind of thing

Alex

We can not change the past but hopefully change our future good luck.

Hi Alex

I joined a week ago. I managed to go months without a relapse then bang...we know the rest. The advice I got here last week was about not putting yourself in the position to do it. So decide what devices you use & do everything you can to make it impossible to log on / visit etc. For me ? 1 week so far. Also talk to those close to you.

I have just read your post again - get rid of the phone ?

I have a blocker on my PC now i.e. my main source of the problem

Hope this helps

Remember; look into the face of your son what is MOST important

Good luck

Thanks for the replys.

I am goin to have to ditch my phone I don't see any other choices to be honest. Without it i wouldn't be gambling that's for sure. I'm gonna contact GamCare for a counselling session and see how it goes from there

Hi Alex and welcome and well done for coming on here and admitting you have a gambling problem . Youv'e already had advice on putting blocks in place to stop you gambling on sites so I'm not going to repeat that , the blocks do work and keeping the Time, money , location triangle broken is a must for you , if you remove one of them you can't bet .

However there just obstacales and can always be bypassed , so it 's always going to boil down to how much you want to give up and your willpower , no easy fix but it can be done .

You said that you didn't feel that GA was for you and thats fine too , many people on here also just use this site or maybe consider the gamcare counciling if you feel it would help you , its free and you get 12 ,121 sessions I believe so maybe giving gamcare a ring to find out more maybe something that would interest you ? .

There's no right or wrong way with recovery and its all down to what suits you , as with this site it's a great place to come on and talk about how your feeling or to ask for help or get advice when you feel you need it , there's also a great diary page so you can chart your progress but as with anything you read or hear on the forum , just take what you need and discard the rest !.

I wish you well my friend and welcome to recovery !

Alan
