I've been gambling on roulette now at the bookies and casinos for almost 6 years.. Won big and almost every time I've returned and lost the lost. It ruined my last relationship with my child's mother. I was even at my lowest using her credit cards to gamble. Hanging round the bookies using them cards to try build up some funds. I calmed down over the last two years mainly doing football bets but end of November 15 I won £1800 online lost that in 15mins. Made for a bad Xmas couldn't really treat the family. Then I was getting my self back together and on Monday fine I won't 2k in ****** bookies. Same day lost 500 of it. Paid some bills gave the rest to my partner as I know what I'm like. Got canceled for work last night as I'm an escort driver and I look after escorts so suggested to my partner we go casino with 300 quid out of the 1k that's left.. Well we went last night and I lost the 300. Woke up this morning and done another 250. There is more cash in the house I've been looking and can't find it. Things are bad again and I need to stop.. My girlfriend is going to kill me when she gets home this evening. I've self excluded myself online.. I know I need to do the same to the casino and bookies, it's just there everywhere I live in a small town of Essex and have 5 in a 2 mile zone. I need help

Hi Richard , and welcome to the forum.

Firstly well done for coming on here and admiting you have a problem . You have to stop my friend , like all on this site it no longer becomes about the money , just the buzz you get , and that cycle will not change until you stop completely .

Any money you do win will not be used for anything else but ammunition for the Casino or Fobt's and I say that from experience . I mirror your story so much , big wins in the Casino and on the bookies machines but like you threw it all back in the machine or on the table , the problem is when you become a Compulsive Gambler , you cannot win because you cannot stop !.

You need to exclude from everything , Casinos online sites the lot , also think about handin control of your finances to your GF, or at least don't carry cash or cards unless you really have to . The biggest thing is to let go of the past losses and move on , you won't win them back so stop chasing them . Bye doing these thing's you break your Time money , location triangle , if you remove one then you can't bet !

I quit over 4 month ago and couldn't be happier , take it from someone thats gambled for over 35 years you aint gonna beat em !.

All the best for now buddy !

If you need anymore info , just ask us or the gamcare team , it helps to talk and on here your not judged , just supported !

@alan Thanks mate I'm glad you are on the road to recovery.. I know I must stop and I'm so determined to. I've just got of the phone from an assessment for counseling so fingers crossed.. I know I'll never win back what I lost and more of the time I feel in control. But last night being canceled for work in saw it as lost money hence the reason I went casino. This mornings bookie lost was because I list money last night. Visious circle.. How are you coping not gambling?

Hi Rich , it is a vicious cycle as you said but it's just about breaking it , you need a few weeks away so that the fog lifts and you begin to see things differently! Time and willpower is what it's about and keeping that triangle broken. I'm doing well now thanks , don't think about the gambling too much, still piiisseed about the past but I'll get over it , I just don't ever want to go back to where I was!

My best advice would be install a gambling filter on the computer. K9 I have and it's saved me thousands! Wife did it all, she has only password. To be honest it made her feel less helpless...it's the first action she was able to take to help me. It's the bricks and mortar bookies for me now, but I'm plucking up the courage to swallow my pride and self exclude there too.
One day at a time.
