Hi Amanda_jayne, welcome back to recovery, you have come to a great place šŸ™‚ But I'm going to be harsh with you & say, stop kidding yourself that this is it! Just because you are kicking yourself & don't have any urges @ the moment doesn't mean they are gone I'm afraid šŸ™ You went for a long time after telling your Dad but this is a progressive disease, hence you have managed to do the same sort of damage in a week this time. Tell your Dad again, phone Gamcare, install blocking software on your devices, get some help addressing why you gamble & then figure out how to get your Time-Money-Location triangle broken before the addiction starts calling you back again.

You are young & will bounce back from this but only if you take measures to stop yourself sinking any further. You can do this - ODAAT

Hi Amanda,

I think you will get urges, especially to try and win some back, stay positive though, everyone has their demons

Hi Amanda_jayne

I have to agree with ODAAT. Urges will inevitably come. Whilst you may feel now that you don't want to gamble, how strong has your willpower been in the past? Bite the bullet, inform your family and put measures in place that will help prevent you from gambling.

Try not to focus too much on the debt. Most gamblers chase losses. This is why so many of us lose homes and businesses. In chasing our debts we accumulate even greater debts, and inevitably we lose all that we had.

You are not stupid! Realising and admitting you have a problem is the first step in overcoming this addiction. You are at an age where you can recover financially and have a very bright future.Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help. GA and counselling are always available. Get your problem under control now and you can avoid a lifetime of misery.

Take care

Hope you can find the strength to get through this time. Tough times are dealt to the toughest people.

Its only been a couple of days since my last bet but i am just trying to think of other areas of life but the debt keeps entering my mind and questioning what i am working for. Also my mind is thinking about looking for a better paid job just to get through the debt but maybe that would be for all of the wrong reasons.

From what I have read there are some mobiles that support the blockers but I recall iPhones being particularly stubborn...Gamcare should be able to advise you though!

Sorry if I came over a bit pushy last night, your post made me anxious that you didn't get how hard this is to break! As you know, it's hard enough to stay in recovery with family support, doing it alone is even harder!

It is possible though & we're all here for each other - ODAAT
