Hello everyone, I'm 29 and have been gambling since my early teens (fruit machines to begin with), I am engaged to my girlfriend who doesn't know what is happening as I can't find the bottle to tell her as I feel it will be the final straw and she will leave me, I have no children. I was told about this site by my counsellor who i have only recently just started to see.... My last bet was yesterday I lost £180 betting on football... The night before I lost a lot more in the casino and bookmakers, I was awake all last night with the horrible feeling we get after we lose out to gambling, so by chance I typed gamcare into my iPad and found this forum.... After reading through a lot of diaries and a lot topics it hit me hard emotionally, tears streaming constantly down my face as I could relate to a lot of people's problems on here... iv also woke up today with fresh hope as I intend to do a diary and think that will aid me into fighting this addiction... iv tryed talking to my family about my addiction but I feel they don't understand the magnitude of the gambling problem people are fighting, and they also have there own problems to deal with.... I Have been a taxi driver for three years now and as you can imagine it is very easy to find a bookmakers you are not self excluded from as I am in different parts of the city constantly... IV also took the step of excluding myself from sites on the Internet... As I said iv recently just started seeing a councillor who I have found very helpful.... Thanks for taking your time to read and I hope you have a nice gambling free day.
Hi Taxi Driver - welcome aboard - this is a great site - just wish I'd found it years ago.
I'm new on here too just 4 days clean, but I've found making a daily diary entry is really keeping me focussed and strong - definitely recommend it.
Hope it works for you mate - just take each day as it comes.
All the best
Andrew
bookies are evil mate, keep away.
Thanks for the reply Andrew and joe... Iv just got in from a night out on the taxis and alls I could think about was coming home and seeing if anybody had replied to my message.... I'm excited by the hope I have already with this site.
