Hi all,
Â
I am in the worst position I have ever been in with gambling, I enjoyed betting at first but it has become the only thing I think about day and night.
Â
im struggling to sleep, my relationship is about to end, I’m struggling in the workplace.
Â
I can’t go on like this, I am destroying myself and everyone around me, finding it so difficult to stop.
I have banned myself from upwards of 10 bookmakers online but in a few days time I’m searching the internet for the next fix.
Â
I need help. ? ?Â
Can not or will not stop gambling? There are no magic pills you will get here that will stop you in your tracks. The only person on the entire planet who can stop yourself from gambling is you. That simple or difficult depending how you choose to look at this. Your mind is highjacked so your thoughts are garbled. But if you looked at it in this way. Pretend you do not have any money in your pocket and you can not manipulate cheat or steal any neither. What is there? Nothing right. No gambling no excitement no plans just you and your angst. Now every time you are in that situation you are not gambling so that means you will be able to go periods without taking a bet. This means that you are more than capable of using your time without taking a bet.
All of this is chemistry. When you get up to high you will feel like S*t coming down and you will chase more money. Dont. You can manage 5 weeks without a bet you will restore that balance in your brain. Can you go 5 weeks without gambling so that you dont feel so bad when you gamble? Anyone can and you need your chemicals balanced otherwise you will just continue like you are doing.
You need to make a choice. Do not let your impulses dictate you, Dictate your impulses instead. You may have noted that I have not for a second said give it up and throw it away. No the only one who can do that is your good self so start making your plans. What do you need to do to live outside your addiction What do you need to do to manage your impulses. The more you do the same things the more you cement that wall. Therefore you need to work at this. It is not going to be a free ride. It is dam hard for some an others do not make it so take its seriously.
I wish you well
C

I found signing up on GamStop and sense is a good way to combat against it. I've not been physically able to gamble now these tools are in place.
Hi
I use to think that gambling controlled my life, was that in any true.
I was very reluctant to go to the recovery room meetings.
Yet in time as I attended more and more meetings I understood that gambling was a way of emotional escape for me.
It was in effect a very unhealthy habit.
The addiction was a vicious loop of living in my fears living in anxiety being stressed out.
Just because I was abale to abstain from gambling did not mean that I was cured or healed.
Only once I was able to abstain from the unhealthy habit I was able to give therapies.
By me giving healthy therapies I gave up talking about money and being in action.
Money was not going to heal my pains.
Money was not going to make me feel successful in my self.
Money was not going to heal the pains I caused other people.
Ever time I lied in any way I was not being honest with my self.
Walking in to the recovery program helped me heal my pains.
Walking in to the recovery program helped me face and reduce my fears.
Walking in to the recovery program helped me exchange my unhealthy habits in to healthy habits.Â
Walking in to the recovery program helped me understand what my emotional triggers were.
Today no matter what happens in my day I understand that by gambling I simply make things much worse.
By going to the recovery program helped learn to respect my self.
By going to the recovery program helped learn to love my self.
By going to the recovery program helped learn to not live in fear today.
By going to the recovery program helped learn to be honest with my self.
Love and peace to every one.

@gadaveuk Posting this on every message might not always be a good thing Dave.
Wrighty.......I've been there and done that mate and its a blinking nightmare. But you already know that.
The forst thing you must do is speak to the advisors - I used to search for any online bookies that would get me back in too and the advisors will ensure that they are all blocked. You can block your phone from gambling sites too. You can self-exclude from hundreds of bookies etc.
The Gamcare advisors are here to help us Wrighty and we need to speak to them so don't be embarrassed just get on the phone.
As to the debt and abusing your personal, family, friend and work relationships, all this will improve significantly. It does work mate but its down to us to take the first step.....and after that, as soon as you feel the urge, ring up again! Don't put it off.....it takes ages getting it out of your system but it does happen and there is a better life out there waiting.
Good luck
Mick
