I want to get a loan n feel free n okay. I don’t have an overdraft im supposed to live with no money for 3 months. I done this more than 3 times in the past months and it’s horrid. Not sure what to do one bit. The money aspect is really eating me how can I be so stupid to borrow more than I even had saved up to win it back i just want answers to what I can do for myself extra income, different job I will register on everything banning me forever so that’s sorted but being 22 and hermit for 3 months in summer is a horror show. I’m willing to get no sleep to get debt free working as hard as possible. I still have to urge to go n borrow more n see if I wrestle back what they took but it will end badly. Never been so more afraid of the casino.

Hello Jgarmino

Thank you for sharing your experience.

It sounds like you’re in a really stressful situation with not having enough money and wondering what to do. It can be hard to get out of the vicious circle with gambling, losing money, chasing losses and borrowing so well done for looking into how to help yourself.

I can hear you’re determined to sort out your financial situation. If you’re based in the UK, the information on the Citizens UK website around debt and money could be useful to you. We have also produced a factsheet on debt advice and support with details of organisations in the UK that offer support and guidance.

You could also talk to someone on our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or through our 1:1 Livechat to get some information about further sources of help and support around all this and we run a Money Guidance Service for people based in the UK (you can phone our Helpline number and they can refer you to the service). The Money Guidance Service doesn’t offer financial advice but the team are there to support and guide you.

I really hope you can get some help with this and I would encourage you to keep sharing your experiences here.

All the best

Claire

Hi

I was such a vulnerable lonely inept inadequate insecure person who felt that gambling controlled my life.

Yet people in the recovery helped me understand that ny attending meetings in time I would be able to abstin from gambling but I would also live a much healthier pain free life.

The addictions and obsessions just indicated that I had certain emotional triggers.

So just for today I do not want or need to gamble.

If I were to gamble I would make things much worse in my life.

I have spent over 50 years in the recovery program.

That is 2 thirds of my life.

The recovery program helped me live amuch healthier life.

Keep going to meetings.

Healing love and peace to you.

Hi there.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Most of us on here have been where you are right now and it’s the worst feeling ever. Believe you me though, as soon as you make that commitment to stop the cycle of depositing, losing and chasing your losses, you will soon start to see the benefits of this.

I see in your post above that you said you “will” exclude yourself from all gambling sites.  Have you don’t this yet? I.e, get in touch with Gamstop? Doing this, really does stop you in your tracks and prevents you from placing that next bet. 🙏. Stepchange are also an excellent charitable organisation, who can help you with your financial situation.

Take care and get those blocks in place.

Pink Lady🩷🍎.

Totally agree with Pink Lady, Gamstop is a life saver. Was hard at first but stopped those niggles and they become less frequent and as intense over time.

It also gives you a life back, suddenly so much time to do other things and find or re-find hobbies.

Hi, I have just joined Gamstop as I don't have anyone to talk to and feel exactly how you are feeling.  I am a lot older than you with a family and have been a proper gambling addiction for around 14 years now.  I have probably lost over 100k and I really don't know nobody in my family has ever noticed.  I am currently in a very point.  Over the last six months I have completely wasted all of my wages on stupid games in the hope that I will win my money back.. it never happens.  I feel so low at the moment to the point of ending my life.  When I read something by someone else who is going through the same thing though I feel that I want to give you hope and tell you that there is support for you and your young and can re start your life without gambling and get out of debt.  My problem is a little deeper than yours and don't want to bog you down, but please speak with Stepchange and take each day at a time.  You can do it x

Hi

Thank you for your our sharing.

Sadly on walking in to the recovery program I was in a high level of fears and a state of panick.

By going to meetings I was abale to abstain from my unhealthy addictions and obsessions.

In time money gets paid back and we  live a much healthier life with out our addictions.

Once we are able to abstain then we are abale to heal our pains and reduce our fears.

Thank you

Dave L
