Hi all my name is Casey,

I have been gambling on the online slots for about 10 years. Lately it has really caught up with me and this month I can’t pay my rent or any bills. I stayed up till 1am on the night I got paid and spent all my wages before 6am I’m so ashamed!! How could I do this. I’m all ready in debt and now this.

On NYE I signed up to GAMSTOP which has been amazing! I know it’s only a few days but that’s massive for me. I need a new hobby to keep my self occupied. Any ideas?

I can’t believe I got myself in this situation but trying to turn this all around.

Hopefully 2019 will be allot better....

Casey

Hi Casey well done in taking the decision to stop and block the online gaming! As you say you need to fill the void! I needed to do a list of jobs that needed doing each day - this gave me a plan and a sense that I achieved things. Going to gym is one of those, and I am going to do this now for tomorrow as today I sort of bumbled around and didn’t achieve! But most important is not to think that a quick dabble is a good idea! Keep posti g

Thanks for the reply,

The gym is a great idea. I have no money at the moment but could do a make shift one until I have paid of some debts. I’m sure I will have a lot more disposable income over the next few weeks. I have become such a recluse as only been focused on holding my phone and playing games. It’s a bit scary getting out in the real world again.

Hopefully as the days go on it will become a bit easier.

Thanks again for reply?

I self taught from watching YouTube videos how to crochet. I've made loads of baby blankets and many other things. Or take up singing maybe? There's sites where you can record like a karaoke app. Or.. I've just downloaded Spotify and listen to music, create your own Playlists. Or sewing is inexpensive. Drawing or painting?

Or.. Declutter your home. Deep cleaning your home. The list is endless. I know a girl whose gone from gambling to now setting up a cleaning business, she listens to music, goes in her own zone and cleans.

What do you enjoy? Dancing is free. Music on and dance around the house.

Take up walking in the day?

Thanks Bella,

Crochet is a brilliant idea! I am going to give that ago. It’s the evenings that I am struggling with. I’m fine in the day as working when It comes to the evenings I struggle and can hear the slots calling so think Crochet will really help.

Thanks,

Casey x

Hi Casey, just wanted to say Hi as I think we are in a very similar place right now! I've found reading this forum very helpful, and for itchy fingers have started to cross stitch! Really not something I would normally do... but... Well done on the first couple of days!

Hey caseyjay.
Well done on taking the steps to help you stop gambling. Stay positive and look towards all the good things in your life. Get the walking boots on and go for a walk in the park or forest! It's free and will help you more than you think! Good luck with your recovery.
