Hi Northstander,

You're doing really well, 65 days GF. Congratulations! It seems like you have a great system in place.

I found your statement "in all honesty I wasn't ready to give up first time round" so true. So many times I knew I needed to quit and deep down knew it was getting out of hand but despite that I still selfishly wanted to play and over time it has cost me dear. How I wish now I'd done all this at your age! However, I'm doing it now and it's never too late!!

I will have a look at a diary when I get a few mins thanks and will self exclude the bookies. Glad you're not drawn to them, NEVER go in!

have a great day and keep upit up.

Cheers Stew

Hi Stew,

How you getting on. Just wanted to say thanks for this post. I’ve been putting off registering with GAMSTOP as I wasn’t ready to let go of the losses and wanted that hope of winning it all back....but I’ve had enough and your post has encouraged me to register ..so just done that! Feeling down that I’ll never see the money again but I guess that will get better over time.

I hope that your getting on well and feeling that you’ve turned a corner.

Hey stew.
Thanks very much for your post. Best wishes for the coming year and we'll done on being GF for over 40 days. All the blocks are in place for me and I agree it is a god send. I am only 5 days gf but feel good. I know there is a long way to go but I am determined not to go back to the misery that gambling leaves us. Stay strong my friend.

Hi Marcella, A very happy New Year to you too. Seems like you're doing very well and avoiding the gambling, keep it up long term it will benefit us all. It's hard with very little money and I have been tempted to play but haven't. I know you post many comments and this is a help. Also great you have been seeing your daughter. I fully understand when you say the need to gamble is when you part from her and you have time alone. Seems like you're keeping busy, that's definitely the secret. I wish you all the best and let's hope we can keep going all year GF. Cheers for now Stew.

Hey stew.
Thanks for the post. Well done on your efforts being GF. I have been very lucky. When I split up from my daughters mum we managed to keep things civil. My ex was tired of the lies about my gambling and looking back I can't blame her. My daughter is the only thing that would come before gambling. I have a great relationship with her and she is the only person I have never let down. Leaving her made me self destruct with gambling. I felt I was losing her and sought solace in gambling. My mind is clear now and I know what I have to do, maybe that's because I just turned 40 a few months back! But posting and reading people's threads has really helped me aswell as ga. My mindset has changed a great deal and I am so positive about the future! I hope we all achieve a gf year!

Congratulations Stu on 60 days gamble free. After gambling for over 30 years that is a real achievement and shows you mean business. I applaud your efforts and wish you every success ...stephen

Thanks very much Stephen (Self Sufficient) I appreciate your message and words of encouragement. Yes it's strange after all this time to quit but roulette has cost me so much and enough was enough. I see you're ten days GF which is a great start. I wish you all the very best and soon those days will increase. Best wishes Stew
