Hi Everyone,
I have been gambling since age 18 (now 23). I never gambled large sums of money at once (usually £10 a day) but it quickly escalated and found myself in debt. Last year I managed to stop for about 6 months but a couple of weeks ago I cracked and started all over again. Luckily I pulled myself out the dip and excluded myself but I feel I need motivation to stay away! My girlfriend has been amazing helping me with this but I cant let her down again. So I have decided to give this a shot and hopefully it helps me alot.
Any advice in ways to stay away from online gambling would be amazing.
I dont want to gamble anymore and I just want to focus on the future.

Well done for coming on here and posting, I'm finding coming on here 3/4 times a day and reading people's posts and sometimes commenting is helping me even though I've got no thoughts of gambling at moment due to losing my family due to gambling. I don't know personally but have read there is software out there that you can use to help with blocking stuff ? You could always consider going to a GA meeting near you ?

This forum will be a great help to you. You will learn a lot about the addiction and how your girlfriend can be an invaluable help.
Think of it as a meeting and a forum you can dip in and out of when you like.
Please give gamcare a ring because the one to one voice is a real focus.
Focus on what gambling did to you every time. Thats the reality and its set up to make them money and not you

Thanks for your comments, I am already finding this forum and site are a big help to me and whats even more helpful I find is reading about (and talking too) people that have been in the same situation to me and how they have dealt with it. I am 2 weeks free today and determined not too ever do it again.

Is it just me or is it that the harder you try to stay away from gambling the more the adverts pop up on tv or on computer. Everywhere you look it seems to be trying to draw you in!
Just an observation! but curious to find out if there is an 'ad blocker' on computer or something like that available.
Anyway still fighting and still clean for 16 days and things are going so much better! Seems I have more money available to treat myself and girlfriend to things that I wouldnt normally be able to afford!!

As far as we know blocking software for PC should block gambling adverts as well. Have a look at all the software recommeneded here http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software see which one suits best.
