About 3 months ago i wrote on here saying i need to stop, i did for about 3 weeks and started again.
i'm 19 and have lost near enough 10 grand over a 3 year period. I have a little bit of debt because of gambling a loan of 1000 and two credit cards of combined 700. The debts easily manageable with the money I'm on. but still annoying as I shouldn't even have it. Today was the final straw as i lost 300 more pounds and realised im back in the cycle. Any tips on how to get over the loses and move on and eventually stop. I want to stop now and put and end to this hrrible addiction.

Hi,
Hopefully you've read a lot of the posts on here and seen people go back to it but also stay off it.
Is there anything that you have read that you think might help you?Â
Chris.
Hi you are still young don't let gambling destroy your life.Â
You need to make yourself believe that there are things more important then money and gamblingÂ
You can't buy everything with moneyÂ
You can't buy happiness, true friendships, family, love of peope ,peace of mind ..
You need to believe in yourselfÂ
You need to believe that you can stop gamblingÂ
You need the desire to stopÂ
I think I am writing too much so last think ''just stop''

Try to venture into fitness. Create an exercise routine. For instance, my routine is to exercise 3hrs a day 3 times a week. Since making this routine work , I have never thought of gambling again. I remember losing 4k £ Dec 2020. I haven't gambled since JanuaryÂ

Basically , find a substitution for gambling. Mine is working out .
Hi Bendave11,
The only thing that will help you get over your losses is time.
Not only time away from gambling, but where time passes so you can recover mentally. 10k is a lot of money, but you are very young, you have time to repay it and recover. If it gets too painful, imagine yourself aged 24 and in 20k debt if you carry on, 50k at aged 29 and so on.......it may seem like an impossible dream but thousands have gone down that route or worse.
Use that debt as a catalyst to move forward. What I mean by that is think "Right, that 10k is an absolute bargain if I never, ever gamble again", think of it as a lesson you had to learn to never gamble again, so in some ways, it's a positive thing. Change your way of thinking about it, an absolute bargain if that is the last money you ever lose as I said....
Hi Bendave11 and welcome to the forum.
Recovery is a learning process. With strong foundations you will learn that abstention is the only way with all the help you can get.
You need reality checks. You need to sit down time and time again with non gamblers and be told its a mugs game....because it is! Try and explain yourself because it makes no sense and you will soon realise that.
They sold you a lie!.... a drug! You need to be crystal clear on that
Its acts like a drug addiction so you  need to tell people close that you love and trust. It is a drug addiction more than anything else.
You need blocks and your money actually needs protecting! Yes you read that right...someone needs to protect the main bulk of your salary because you need serious help. There is no shame in admitting that. You are one of millions who developed this addiction
When the addiction knows the fight is really on it will cower and allow your mind time to heal...Your life will be better gamble free so you need to learn that behaviour again as your mind grows strong.
If someone that you wouldnt let down can monitor you, its the sunlight on the dracula addiction. The addiction is like the devil inside and Im not being over dramatic.
You can never be complacent again but you will find that a positive statement given time.
It took me 10 months after joining the forum to act on the trusted advice...dont let that be you.. Please act now!
You are better than gambling and you don't need it in your life. That is the truth! The truth will ultimately set you free.
Best wishes from everyone on the forum

My advice to you at the age of 31 and gambled in the region of £200,000 been in debt and debt free again what has happened is done with and like you said the debt is manageable I wish I could rewind back to 20 when I started and that few hundred pound debt just have a word with myself !Â
you have a full life ahead of you and gambling isn’t going to make it any better infact like most on here is can ruin your life !Â
take the right steps to getting the correct help now and ensure you do not have this problem 10/20 years down the line
Â
