Hi im new here after being caught out, I had to confess yesterday that I've took credit cards out in my husband's name to cover every day costs due to gambling mine and his wages and also lost our savings.

Yesterday I made the hard step of contacting everyone and putting measures in place to stop.

He's even took my phone rights away and he has to put a pin in be knows so I can access my phone when he's there.

I've messed up big time and hurt the person and lied to the person I love the most, he's still with me and I don't deserve it, however I have to prove and earn trust again.

Hi there.

Well done on coming clean and owning up to your husband. We have all been there, where we have had that dreaded conversation to someone we really care about and tell them about the financial devastation we have got ourselves in.

I hope this works out for you both, now that you have done the hardest bit in coming clean to your husband. 🙏

Take care.

Hi,

This was me!!! I took out loans and credit cards in my husband’s name, spent every penny we had, every month! Last July within days, I was going to be faced with 4 loans payments and 2 credit card payments that I couldn’t make, and he was going to find out!!!

It will take time but things will get easier! You do absolutely deserve the support, please be kind to yourself. The guilt feeling does get less and less. For me removing that boulder was a huge step in my recovery. You didn’t wake up one morning and decide to mess your lives up! It’s an illness.

Is it a massive relief to have it all out there now? I found the constant lying exhausting.

As of today I am 264 days gamble free, and my husband and I are back to how we use to be!

Good luck,

Claire

Hey there ,

I know exactly how you feel, I’ve come clean before and we sold our house to pay off my debt . We were going to move anyway but all that work I did on the house to sell it and to create more equity went to the credit card companies well my share did. Roll on 6 years I’m back where I was all but a few grand and this time if I come clean I’m out on my ear and everybody will find out I.e Mrs parents brothers prob work  etc ! I’ve put it all on credit cards as my wages go into joint account so I’m really in the hole this time !!  Even decided to throw 400 in the fobt for good measure today !! God only knows how I move forward but I dont give up easily so any ideas would be greatly received 👍
