Evening All,
First post as I've finally admitted I need help.
32 years old, gambling for 15 years. Been bailed out in past only to go back and carry on my past behaviour.
Now 20k in debt and just confessed all to my wife.
Rock bottom.
How did you get past this point?
Hi Fraser
You have come to the right place. You now have a long journey ahead of you but you will find lots of help and support on here. You now need to put as many blocks in place to stop the gambling. Have you thought about handing your finances over to your wife now that she knows so you have no access to money. Also I was in 12k of debt (after being bailed out a few times) and I, like many others here, am on a debt management plan. You can get free advice and support for either Stepchange or Payplan, they are government funded so don't take any commission.
I would highly recommend you call Gamcare helpline too as they will be able to put some counselling in place for you. For your wife if it helps there is a section within this forum for family members of CG to gain support.
I would suggest you have a look through the diaries and possibly set your own up as this can help and there are lots of people who post on there to support.
Just remember too that betting shops and casino's are businesses out there to make money not give it away.....the only way you will win is by not giving them your hard earned money.
Stay strong take each day at a time.....small steps. Take care and good luck on your recovery.

You are 3 days better off than any CG who hasn't yet stopped, so for them 3 days you must have a technique, mindset or some sort of motivation...you may think you can't help someone but your method may be just what someone needs 🙂 3 days instead of none...never use the word "only" as it undermines what you have already achieved!
But welcome fraser, I hope this forum offers you all the support you want and need and it becomes the start of a much happier life mate!
Thanks all for your advice and support.
Off to my first GA meeting tonight. No idea what to expect but feels an important step.
Affected by gambling?
