Ive been online gambling for about 8-9 years now. But the past 5 years its become 10 times worse. I just cant help myself from betting. Horses and football are the main ones. The odd greyhound. Most recently darts!

I'm a father on two (1yo and 3yo) and engaged to my partner of 5 years. I'll lose the lot if I don't stop!

Yeah I have a very similar tale as yours. Been trying for a couple of years to quit and had a few relapses along the way. I'm generally heading in the right direction. Some people can quit straight away but I've really struggled. My best advice would be to put barriers in the way of you gambling. For online, download Gamban as it's only £9.99 a year and will stop the laptop. The phone is more difficult right now but they're developing products. If you can hand over control of your finances to your mrs that would be a big one as you'd have very limited chance to gamble. It would put you in a good place to recover.

I've tried putting the wages I have left after direct debits into her account. But once I get paid I spend 200 roughly in the weekend. Struggle then the rest of the month. I also have a 2nd job now and am grateful I have that coming in or I'd be up s**t creek

Hi change and liverboy.

I agree that gambling blocks on *ALL* devices are really necessary. I did it in steps. I wish I blocked everything straight away 6 months ago. 1st I tried self-excluding from sites, but there are always new ones. 2nd I blocked my 2 computers, but I didn't block my parents desktop or laptop and then went there, 3rd - just 2 months ago I told my parents and blocked every device in the house except for my phone. Guess where I gambled then.

.....but now it's such a relief - every single device in my house is blocked - change - I installed netnanny on my mobile phone and it's working great.

Good luck to everyone in the forums on finding a better life after gambling.
