Hello everyone! I joined in because I really want to stop now! I used to have a problem years ago, but I was able to stop when I got into unauthorized overdraft. It was only 100 quid but for someone who has no job it was a lot. For 10 years I stayed away from Bingo sites. Then last October I joined in a survey sites where you have to join sites to earn, I thought it was silly but then I got tempted to join and made minimum deposits, a few months later, I was registered to most of the Bingo sites, playing different slots game. Within 5 months, 3 credit cards and 8k in debt! I can't believe how it happened, its like a nightmare. I recently got a part time job, but even if paid in to my debt, it will be a struggle. I know it can be done. I know that things will be alright but still can't help thinking of ending my life. I have 4 children under 13, my husband doesn't know I am into gambling. I don't think he will understand. I just feel the need to talk to someone. I just want to forget and find a solution to my financial problem. Good luck to me. Good luck to you. Good luck to us!
Hi Deepend
im not in a good position to advice you, I’ve been on this forum before, but only today I realised I’m addicted to gambling, before I thought I was just unlucky or using the wrong strategy.
I think maybe it would be a good iddea to tell your husband and get a part time job. It will take time but the debts will eventually go.
i told my family and I was shocked That they were supportive and forgiving. I’m now looking at doing overtime etc at my job, it’s the only way i can pay my debts off faster
Thanks so much for the advice Stanpaul. I just look into my bank account and there I saw a minus sign. I guess its really a sign that I should stop.
There are some concerns before on why the bank is not doing anything to help gamblers. Like smoking, statistics says that because of smoking ban in places, most people has stop smoking. There's also anti-laundering law where the banks check where the money come from, but why they don't check if the money in one's acoount are being used for gambling. Like my account, I would be embarass to show my bank statement to anyone. It's an endless lists of bingo sites.
One time I was walking with a mother on benefits who just started work and claiming JSA, she's having concern that the jobcentre wants her to provide bank statement which will show that she's using their money to gamble and she's scared that they will stop her benefits.
I am sure if only the bank will give you notice that you are using your money to pay gambling sites and they will not honour the transactions, it will help curb the addictions. One can find another alternatives if there's one, but if its a legitimate bank, they should help us before we get into deep. I hope there will be a law like this.
Affected by gambling?
