Hi
Have amassed debts up to 60k through on-line roulette gambling-have reached the lowest point of my life but I feel that I cannot get any lower and it is time to stop gambling via getting constructive help-being honest with my family and filling my time with less addictive pursuits and try to appreciate the simple things in life that can give you pleasure as opposed to the roller coaster destructive ride of gambling-took my dogs out yesterday and I was in no hurry to return home to gamble it was great-yes I have a long road to go to re-build trust with my wife but I will do whatever it takes to rebuild and rid myself of this daily curse-yes I feel devestated and ashamed at the position I have put myself and my family in but my new life has already started-it will be a long road
all the best to my fellow gamblers there is hope because at one stage I could not see any but it is there if you look hard enough

Hi Johnnyboy1,
I think you’ve come to the right place for help and support for your gambling problem, and thanks also for your post.
It seems like you are aware of most of the strategies you have to put in place in order to overcome your gambling problem. You’ve stipulated it nicely in your post but, I’m wondering if you’ve been actually honest to your wife and family, and whether you’ve open up fully to them?
Saying it one thing, and actually doing it or, putting it into practice is another. You sound like you’re ready to stop, and willing to do whatever it takes to get there, which is a fine thing. I’ll encourage you to go for it without further hesitation. You can do it, Johnnyboy1!
Your family might even offer you their encouragement and support when they realise you’re serious about stopping.
It’s a positive move when you went for a walk with your dog, and felt good about it. This proves to you that you’re capable of replacing your gambling time with other activities which would be more beneficial to your circumstances.
I’m not sure how you’re managing the repayment of you £60k debt but, I suggest you contact Step Change and other agencies for some expert advice on debt management. Pls. contact them at: http://www.stepchange.org/ , National Debtline www.nationaldebtline.co.uk, and the Money Advice Service www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/
In addition to this, the following internet blocking software will stop you from accessing gambling sites. Pls. read about them first, and then you can choose to install the one that can provide you with the maximum benefit. The software are:- Gamblock, Net Nanny, and Betfilter.
Maybe, you’ll like to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers for further help and support. An adviser can refer you for 12 sessions of free counselling, if you think that would help you to overcome your problematic gambling.
I wish you the best in your effort to overcome your gambling problem, and thanks once again for your post.
Kind regards,
Beatrice
Good luck on your recovery.
