After years of gambling problems I recently self excluded myself online for 6 months, during this time I could have visited the bookies but didn’t. However yesterday once this was lifted I opened a new online account and deposited £50, an hour or two later I was winning playing roulette, wheel spin game and slots. I felt as high as a kite but inevitably proceeded to spend it all over the next hour and felt terrible after so hit the 5 year exclude button on Gam Stop. This morning although I know this is the right thing to do I’m struggling to work out what led me to win that much and then throw it all away and Aldo how I’m going to get through 5 years when I couldn’t wait for the 6 months to be up!

Our brain can not work out when it is time to stop the (gambling) elevator and get out. We always end up in the garage parking area because we only get out when it stops. That is the simple truth of it. When as an addict have you ever walked away with money without having the ever underlying itch to blow it asap?

The maths is easy. Win for a while then push for some cash winnings and then some more as the elevator heads down to the garage parking again and then you stand there wondering what happened.

The five years is a good choice. Try not to work it out because that is what keeps you going.

I wish you well!

Best

C

@c43h

Thank you for taking the time to reply, you are absolutely right. I know hitting the 5 year button was the right one but it’s going to take a while to fully appreciate that.

thanks again

Hi!

I would say it was a blessing that you lost the money otherwise if you brain works like mine - you would have won - withdraw the money and probably play again the next day..

you lost and pushed the button for 5 years self exclusion - in my eyes you won.

all the luck in the world to you

@lonelyloser thank you for taking the time to reply

You are right I would have spent that and more either that day, a day after or a few days after that.

Thanks for the support
