Hey, had a read at your diary and thought I would leave a comment, I myself am only on day 2 however I did go 30 months gamble free them relapsed and then thought I could control gambling. What was successful for me back then was handing over finances to someone else (something I'm speaking to my wife about tomorrow morning). This was especially helpful just before payday as I always found the urge doubled around payday. I honestly think this is something that would benefit yourself, I would also change my direct debits to every exact payday so as soon as money hit bank it left bank.

Take care

@bladesman - thank you! To be honest the money I owe is more what I’ve drawn from an account we had wedding savings in, not all of it but some and I’m anxious about paying it back. I’ve been paying bits as and when and hopefully it goes back to where it was quickly! I have a small amount on my credit card that I also need to clear off but I’m finally realising the longer I don’t gamble the easier I should find it to see my finances building up.
today is day 5 of my fresh start and I feel okay, I’m just worried because I know the big challenge comes when I get paid the end of the month as this is always my downfall! I’ve got all the blocks in place I can think of and hopefully this will help.
hope you’re doing good!

Hey

well done on reaching 5 days, I really think you need to have a plan in place for payday to ease the pressure, handing over cards perhaps? Phoning up banks and blocking gambling transactions.

take care

@jamie122813 - thanks for this! I’m thinking of contacting the bank to put a ban in place to help me. I’ve also (I know it sounds silly) but I’ve started putting £1 into a savings pot for each day gamble free to help me stay motivated and see a small financial benefit too.
I hope you’re doing good!

@jamie122813 - so sorry, I’ve only just read your first comment on here!
thanks so much, I’ve actually had a new debit card which I don’t know the numbers too so I’ve handed that over which will help loads! I get paid next week so hopefully this all helps!
how did it go with your wife?
All the best and thanks for reading my diary. 6 days clean now! Here’s to a week tomorrow

11 days clean today, so proud of myself and so determined to do better!
I’m finally realising that the debt is in the past and the only way to sort it is bit by bit each month not gambling. It’s not down to some magical big win that will never happen..

here’s to day 12 and many more!!

I hope you’re all doing good x

Hey

Well done, like you say the debt is in the pass and with not gambling you will soon get them cleared plus lots more.

I've just spent the whole morning on the laptop going through finances etc and writing down prices to take family to Blackpool in July.

Take care

So here’s to 2 weeks gamble free, pleased with myself but feeling kinda down in the dumps the past few days and just feel abit all over the place.
I get paid tomorrow too so worried I won’t get through to seeing a whole month gamble free, but here’s hoping.
Hope you’re all good, take care x

Hi, well done on 2 weeks. From my own experience recovery is like this, some good days along with some bad. You have the blocks in place to deal with the downs so stay strong and keep filling that jar. It's a lifelong commitment to never go back to where we were.

All the best
