Hi all,

been wanting to register on here for a while as always read people’s stories and what has led them to where they are! I can relate to a lot of people’s feelings, thoughts and determination to give up!

my biggest downfall is slots wether that be in arcades , bingo or online and it’s not even about the winning it’s a distraction just in general and something I’ve always thought I enjoyed! I’ve self excluded a couple of times now over time from bingo halls , arcades and registered from Gamstop however somehow I always find a way to start again wether that’s the ban being up or registering with online sites that are not on the gamstop register??‍♀️

I don’t really know what drove me to them other than I used to watch my mum playing them when I was in my later twenties and from there it spiralled! I could go weeks, months without any form of gambling but then go straight back to where I had been and each time the loss is even bigger! I actually dread to think how much I’ve lost over the years !

Anyway just thought I’d say hi and the forum has helped me by reading others stories over time and has encouraged me to join now(long overdue I must add)

thanks for reading and stay safe everyone!

Hi

I have been gamble free for 162 days I often think we over complicate it... how did I do it ??

when I wake up every day before I get out of bed is simply say to my self  “just for today I just won’t gamble”

every morning and 162 days in I still haven’t gambled dont look at it long term or even try to ponder as to why just for today dont gamble

goodluck x

Hi seannria

thanks for replying, well done on your 162 days that’s some acheavement! That’s a good way to think of it as I do always look ahead rather than tackling each day .

I lost my dad in October last year and I was his main carer so I knew from this moment it was going to go one way or the other I’ve tried so hard for my gambling not to spiral and that’s when I self excluded from the local bingo hall and arcades.
I went about a couple of months and then the urges came and I found myself travelling out of my area to go and get my fix at other arcades it’s like going around in circles! I don’t really discuss with anyone what I do my mum knows why I banned myself and understands and she herself plays on the slots so also understands.

When I registered online a couple of nights ago I knew I shouldn’t of but couldn’t stop it so I closed it not long after (although lost a fair bit first!)and today is my 2nd day to a new me!

Ive just completed my degree and due to start a new job soon so will b working a lot so determined this part of my life needs to go for good!
Keep up ur good work! X
