Hey guys! Hope everyone is well.

well I’ve done it I hit my first milestone milestone the other day 1 month gamble free!!

The day I stopped gambling I was so anxious I thought there’s no way I’m going to even last a week but here I am and I can honestly say the amount of hours in the day I gambled and the money I spent I thought I’d be climbing the walls. The last two weeks have honestly been brill I’ve barely had any thoughts throughout the day I’m completely fine sometimes on a night I do and think about it for a couple of minutes when it pops in my head but I’ haven’t felt this happy in such a long time.

I feel like I’m finally finding myself again I’m smiling more and I’m actually engaging and listening to people instead of having my face in my phone spinning away on online slots! It’s such an emotional roll coaster like even writing this it might have only been a month but I get choked up mainly because I can finally see light at the end of extremely dark tunnel.

keep safe and GF guys xx

Congratulations Jaydee.

I sincerely believe the first month is the most difficult of all so really pleased to see you have passed that.

Wishing you every success as you continue on your journey of recovery.

Aum

Such an inspirational post.

Can I ask you some advice? When those thoughts pop into your head at night what do you do to get through them? I've just joined nd starting out and would love any tips I could get.

Well done, Jaydee.

You came to this forum at roughly the same time as me and so I identify with a lot of what you're saying, particular about how I feel now.

I'm glad things are going well - keep it up and keep posting.

Congratulations on your month gamble free, I actually found it harder the first month BC I felt like I was doing so well I relaxed my inabitions and that's when I fell back in the trap. I'm nearing 600 days gf and only in the last few months have I realized how far I've come. But we all started with the same problems same pain but we all recover differently so keep on your path and keep smiling . Take ever day as it comes and keep positive

Hey hope your well! I’ve struggled a lot with my mental health in the past which involved my thoughts a lot so the help I received then has kinda helped me with those crappy gambling thoughts. I tell myself thoughts are just that thoughts yes they are very overpowering many times but it’s just your mind playing tricks on you but only you can control the actions you take after those thoughts. When you get a thought just stop and concentrate on your breathing the rise and fall. I’ve also found just watching videos, reading anything helps your thoughts are only going to be temporary if you find something to distract those thoughts! I hope that helps it’s just my personal experience  for the first mouth and I wish you the best on staying GF xx
