Any tips for anyone trying to overcome a gambling problem. I don't go a day without gambling, I'm sick of being in copious amounts of debt and having no money to do/buy things. It's sickening when I think about how much I've lost. Is there any tips at all, how to find something else that gives me the rush, or how to avoid bookies. I self excluded but I found myself going further afield to gamble.

Any tips at all are welcome thanks.

Hi Joe , You seem to have asked for tips on every thread since 2015 , so if nothing's worked so far then maybe time to up your game and accept the responsibility and try something new ?

There's no one size fit's all but if you truly want to stop gambling then you'll find a way .

I wish you well :))

Hello Joe,

I agree with Alan if you're asking these questions more than once it's time to change something.

Not to put a downer on it but I haven't found anything that gave me a rush like gambling did but I also don't have the negatives that go along with that short lived rush like no sleep, constant disliking of myself, lies and not being able to focus my attention because gambling was always an overpowering thought just to name a few.

I made the decision that the negative affects of gambling were not worth that rush.

Good lock

The main tip Joe is to not gamble, its very simple. You take it one day at a time but under no circumstances do you gamble, as a compulsive gambler you will need support with this so joining a 12 step programme like GA is very much advised. As for the rush you get, you will find other pleasures in life that wont destroy you once you commit to tackle your illness, otherwise you will continue on your current path and have nothing of value left.

another fantastic comment from Alan!

there's no easy fix, no quick win, it's time to face into the consequences of your gambling and reach out for the professional help whilst also taking full ownership of your past choices

if you want to gamble you will find a way, if you really want to stop you'll also find a way

best wishes
