Hi guys

I signed up to blacktype site and just wanted help with this issue, I was self excluded at one of there partner sites ( I was unaware of this) I made a £35 deposit and then self excluded from there site, since then they emailed saying that I was self excluded from partner site and I would get my deposits returned, half hour later they sent another email saying I won’t get deposits back now as I had signed up with benjaman when compared to Ben with the other site that is there partner, address, card details etc all the same is this within there right as common sense would show I’m same person the reason for the change is my drivers licence says benjaman and when some sites as for proof I email that in and if my names set to Ben it often is an issue

The help you need isn’t resolving this particular issue, it’s resolving what it is in you that compulses you to bet. If you are self excluding, you’re doing it for a reason 🙁

There appear to be many unscrupulous practises within the industry & until you get help for your addiction, you are fighting a losing battle. Gambling refunds, payday loan refunds, PPI refunds go the same way as our wages, remortgaging, credit cards...We can’t win because we cannot stop!

Call the GamCare helpline, get to GA, download blocking software, hand over your finances...This could be a bargain lesson if you choose to move forwards in recovery instead of chasing your tail & continuing to feed an industry that will chew you up & spit you out - ODAAT

Hi Ben,

I completely agree with ODAAT.

I'm not suggesting you don't pursue getting your money back, just don't worry about it NOW (there will be records of all transactions which you can dispute at a later date).

Focus your time and energy on the initial stages of your recovery. Use the time and energy you would have spent fighting this casino group for creating real blocks (exclusions, blocking software, self-exclusions from physical sites, limiting access to money etc.). Whilst you're still gambling, any money you get back will end up in the pocket of another bookies anyway. I agree, if you have a genuine case then do dispute it, just not right now.

As ODAAT said, if you're self excluding then you are obviously aware of a problem and, if there's a problem, whether it's £35 of £3,500, it's irrelevant it will just be gambling tokens.

Good luck

Phil

Hi Ben,

I’d be interested to hear how you get on as I have a similar complaint with an organisation who allowed me to open a second account with the first name ‘steve’ whilst be self-excluded from the site with an account in the name ‘stephen’.

Hi Benrich8.

You are not dealing with the real issues here. If you are self excluding then signing up on other sites you are not really blocking.

Gambling is not an income scheme and its not a get it back later scheme. I understand your feelings and frustration with being a compulsive gambler. Its a known phase of confusion we have all been through but you need to look at yourself first and tackle this addiction.

The gambling dens are no angels...what do you think your relationship with them is? One site even half jokingly admits in the adverts that they are no angels which I find even more sinister.

When you are in a full recovery you will eventually become calm and even serene. You can think about the gambling industry but the issue for now is gambling has got to you...they have sold you a gambling drug and you have become an addict.

Are you ready to stop or are you now going to go off in a huff thinking we didnt understand you and wont help you get your money back. Please dont be one of those people we never hear from again.

You need to understand what a gambling addiction does to you. If you dont stop now that episode will be the least of your worries. Infact it is the least of your worries. The main and extremely dangerous problem is that you are an active gambler.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Hello Ben

We echo what the forum members have suggested. If you want to tackle your gambling, do call our freephone helpline on 0808 8020 133 or chat to us on the NetLine. We can't help with your dispute with the gambling website but we can help with your compulsion to gamble.

You can find out more about how to complain to a gambling company here:

http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/for-the-public/Your-rights/Complain-to-a-gambling-business.aspx

Also, we're moving this post to 'Overcoming Problem Gambling' as it's not a debate, it's a request for help.

Best wishes
