If you are struggling with the temptation of online gambling why haven’t you registered with Gamstop?

What is stopping you?

Blunt answer I have, but i'm also aware there are many ways around Gamstop and other blockers.  Its a tool worth having as part of my blockers though.

Hi

I understand that my addiction was a symptom deviation and a form of escape from people life and situation I was unable to emotionally cope with.

Our procrastination and putting commitment was to our self and over time I had given up so much faith and hope in myself.

Yet often people will abstain from one addiction and escape to another or towards obsessions which for me were also very unhealthy.

The reference to the buzz the high or stimulation often reached by build up anticipation was fear and adrenaline based.

By going to the recovery program I was asked to honest to myself, not to any body else but just be honest with myself.

My first thinking was I was less than seven out of twenty, today my yeses are 20 out of twenty, the questions never changed, I just got more honest with myself.

By putting up blocks to help me stop gambling I understand ti is temporary.

By saying just for today I will not gamble is a boundary where I am not willing to hurt myself or cause myself pains, to gamble is as form of self abuse, setting that boundary says I am starting to value myself a little more.

The hardest thing is to over come procrastination change my motives and exchange every unhealthy habit in to healthy habits.

How could I think to myself that Gambling was every thing and life was boring, yet it happened that way.

I understand that my life was unmanageable emotionally long before my addictions and obsessions, due to emotional abuse, due to physical abuse,  due to sexual abuse,  due to neglect both physical and emotional, due to abandonment  both physical and emotional, I was caused pains that in time caused fears in  me that I did not understand.

When I walked in to the recovery program I was well and truly emotionally, over time my fears would reduce,  my trusts would grow and my inner child would heal and come out to play.

The recovery program was going to help me help myself.

The recovery program was going to help me get more honest with myself.

The recovery program was going to help me become healthier and healthier each day.

The recovery program was going to help me get my a*s in to gear and put more healthy effort in to my life.

The recovery program was going to help my physical age and emotional age gap get closer to each other.

The recovery program was going to help me be able to articulate my feelings in a much healthier way.

If I do not attend meetings, I am cheating myself, my motives got healthier as I put more effort in to my recovery.

How much do I value myself today, what is my worth today.

I am a non religious person and if I can find a healthy recovery any one else can do so also.

Love and peace to every one

the problem is most people come on here to either be told everything is going to be alright or to complain that they have lost too much

very few are deadly serious about stopping gambling they are just desperate to stop losing so much

Have to agree, most don’t understand the lifelong commitment this is.

some just want a cuddle, others come and go when they read what they have to do to prevent gambling, you 100% must not gamble again to make this work , put every block in place.

im not there yet with handing over my finances yet...why? I’m not 100% convinced it can work in my situation having not told my OH and want to get through this without having too if possible, bit hypocritical of me yes but at least I admit it.
