Hi

My name is Chris and this is my first post. I am addicted to Gambling and have been pretty much all my adult life. I am 37 now.

As of yesterday I have decided to finally take action to overcome this horrendous addiction. I need to tackle my debts as I cannot now afford the minimum payments i am going to later today contact Step change or Pay plan for advice however I was wondering if any one has any advice regards how creditors react as alot of my debt is new debt as in that I have took out loans as recent as two months ago and now cant pay them the payment. How do they react to this? I am extremely worried about what is going to happen so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am also going to attend my first GA meeting on Monday night. So nervous about it but know I have to do it as I cant do this on my own.

Hi Gibby,

Have you been in contact with step change or payplan yet?

It can be daunting to take this step and to talk to someone about your debts, but they will be able to advise you on all questions you have. They are qualified to give you this advice and information and I am sure that once you have mustered the courage to call them, you will get the answers you are looking for.

You can do this!

Kind wishes
Gabriele

Hi Gabrielle

Thanks for the reply. I am going to call them this morning. Can't sleep right now for worry.

However I have took the day off work as annual leave so I can plan starting working out away with them to deal with this. I have also closed down all my accounts and self excluded myself last night from all the betting companies I have accounts. I now need to get excluded from all the ones I don't have accounts with.

Then I need to face my biggest challenge and tell my wife. This scares me so much. We have too young kids and I don't want to lose them. I just need to be honest and see what happens.

Chris
